Government Relations

Subseries contains records relating to BidCorp's interactions with municipal, provincial, and tribal governments, as well as the Government of Canada.

Records include correspondence, memorandums, reports, work plans, promotional materials, presentations, minutes, and agendas.

Government programs and committees files

Subseries contains files pertaining to the Vancouver Health Department's participation in programs and committees administered by federal, provincial, municipal and regional government branches and agencies, including the Vancouver Regional Hospital District.

Governance records

Subseries consists of records documenting the governance of the Manitoba Sugar Company.

The records are meeting minutes of the Board of Directors of the company, copies of shareholder's meeting minutes, company by-laws and related correspondence.

Good Citizen award files

Subseries consists of letters of nomination for Vancouver's Good Citizen of the year award, biographies of nominees and winners, newsclippings, lists of the Good Citizens, and programs and correspondence concerning the annual special appreciation day to honour Vancouver's Good Citizen of the year. In 1922, the Native Sons, Post No. 2, began awarding the Good Citizen Medal to a citizen chosen for "his or her sterling qualities of good citizenship." The first recipient of the annual award was J.H. Carlisle, the City's first fire chief and head of the Fire Department for 43 years. The post continues to be awarded annually.

George Vancouver

Subseries consists of correspondence, plans and photographs concerning restoration of Vancouver's grave in Petersham, England, most of it from the joint fund raising committee of the Native Sons of British Columbia, the Native Daughters of British Columbia and the Vancouver Pioneers Association Women's Auxiliary. There is also one file of correspondence concerning the acquisition of an historical document, the original commission issued to Captain George Vancouver.

Records include work plans, meeting minutes, correspondence, memorandums, presentations, reports, cost analyses, and feasibility studies.

General Services files

Subseries contains files pertaining to the delivery of services by the City Analyst's Laboratory; Mountain View Cemetery; and homemakers, volunteers and nursing liaison services. Subseries also includes files pertaining to student training, health promotion, health planning and policy, alcohol abuse and smoking.

The subseries consists of reports, studies, surveys, and other related records created and received by the P.N.E. Records include public opinion polls, advertising proposals, planning and development reports, market studies, traffic counts for various P.N.E. buildings, transportations and parking studies, and other reports.

Subseries contains records relating to BidCorp's international relations planning efforts, including the City of Vancouver, the Resort Municipality of Whistler, the COA/COC, the Provincial Government of British Columbia, and the Government of Canada.

The subseries consists of correspondence of the General Manager of the P.N.E. Records include letters received, copies of letters sent, and accompanying materials, such as reports, plans, specifications, photographs, and other records. Records relate to various topics regarding the P.N.E., including buildings, events, the City of Vancouver, P.N.E. officials and Board of Directors, and other matters.

General external relations records

Subseries contains records documenting VANOC's relationships with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), as well as other non-partner organizations, including provincial and territorial governments (excluding British Columbia), municipal governments (excluding Vancouver and Whistler), and non-profit organization and associations. Records include correspondence with non-partner organizations, documentation of IOC visits and technical reviews, progress reports to the IOC, and proceedings and related material from meetings with the IOC Coordination Commission, established to manage working relationships among VANOC, International [sporting] Federations (IFs), and National Olympic Committees (NOCs).

General company correspondence

Subseries consists of correspondence maintained by the Vancouver office of the Cariboo Gold Quartz Mining Company. Records include letters and telegrams received, copies of letters and telegrams sent, and additional materials, such as receipts, lists, reports, and other materials. Correspondents include company officials, various government offices, suppliers (such as Mine Safety Appliances Company and the Home Oil Company), financial institutions (including the Montreal Trust Company and the Royal Bank), professional associations (such as the Mining Association of B.C., and the Industrial Association of B.C.), and other individuals and organizations. Subseries also includes the 1908 version of McNeill's Code, which was used to send coded telegrams.

Subseries consists primarily of correspondence on a variety of subjects and includes invitations, letters of appreciation, complaints, requests for information, records pertaining to the Fire Department Band, and records pertaining to visits by other Fire Departments.

Subseries consists of a collection of documents relating to a variety of activities and topics. Includes financial records, a scrapbook, record of correspondence, copy of a diary, and publications.

Gay Games reference material

Sub-series consists of records informing the formation of the Metropolitan Vancouver Athletic and Arts Association and the subsequent organization of Celebration ’90, the Gay Games that were held in Vancouver in 1990.

The sub-series includes documents that were obtained from San Francisco Arts & Athletics, including copies of administrative records and materials that were generated for Gay Games I and II in San Francisco.

The records include correspondence, agendas and minutes, notes, promotional materials, informational packages, ephemera related to Gay Games I and II, rules and regulations for participants, Gay Games II event results, and records relating to the legal dispute between the United States Olympic Committee and San Francisco Arts & Athletics.

Gates and Parking Department records

The subseries consists of records created and received by the P.N.E. department responsible for fairground gates and parking. Records include reports, studies, notes, minutes of meetings, and constitutions and bylaws.

Subseries consists of records dealing with raising funds for researching, writing, and publishing "The Story of Dunbar: Voices of a Vancouver Neighbourhood." Records include grant applications, correspondence and records of other fundraising activities such as bake sales.

Fundraising files

Subseries consists of files containing correspondence and surveys with potential sponsors to raise funds to support Vancouver Centennial programs. The Team of 100 was a marketing strategy to form a committee for corporate participation in the centennial with the intent to raise funds in the corporate community. Files on individual corporate sponsors outline the nature of the sponsorship and in some cases agreements.
Subseries is arranged into the following four filing blocks: Fundraising - general; Corporate sponsors; Donated goods and services; and Federal government funding.

Foon and Lillian Wong textual records

Subseries consists of records relating to the personal, educational, and professional activities of Foon and Lillian Ho Wong and their family members, including correspondence, birth and naturalization certificates, and creative writing exercises. The subseries also includes publications and posters that the Wongs collected, as well as three drawings of Lillian Ho Wong as a young woman.

Subseries consists of records arising from financial activities such as budgeting, tax return preparation, and other financial activities.
Subseries includes cash books, estimates, income tax records, financial statements, and other records.
Additional budgets and financial statements for years after 1971 can be found in Board of Trustee minutes, Executive Committee minutes, and President's and Director's records.

Subseries consists of financial records created by Archibald for the firm of Bayfield and Archibald. Records include invoices, purchase order, receipts, transaction records, ledgers and ledger sheets, client address books, account books, notebooks, and other records.

Subseries consists of financial records of Major Matthews, his projects, the City Archives, and those closest to him--including Mrs. Mabel Agnes Willis and Hazel Valentia Abbott. Includes Major Matthews' income tax files, insurance papers, stocks and bonds, pension records, property documents, bank account records and correspondence relating to financial matters. Also includes the financial records of some of Major Matthews' public endeavors, such as the Lord Stanley Statue Trust, the Larsen Statue account, the Archives of Vancouver Society bank account, and the City Archives Endowment Fund.

Subseries consists of financial records of the Vancouver Centennial Commission, including financial reports, budgets and general ledgers. Also included are records pertaining to souvenir sales, licensing, work programs funding, and the financial wind-up of the Commission.
Files within this subseries were originally arranged into the following filing blocks: General; Accounts paid; Production accounts paid; Accounts receivable; Budget and estimates; and Work programs; however, only records from the General, Budget and estimates and Work program filing blocks were retained. Additional financial records transferred by the Commission without file numbers are also described in this series.

Federal Conservative Party records

Subseries consists of convention and campaign records, speeches, correspondence and various handbooks of the federal Conservatives. Arranged chronologcially.

Facilities development files

Subseries consists of two albums of photographs documenting the restoration of Barclay Manor (1447 Barclay Street, formerly referred to as Park Site 19), a once gracious Edwardian residence turned rooming house. Also documented is the structural restoration of the neighbouring Weeks house (1459 Barclay Street). Some textual information is included in the albums.

F. Ivor Jackson

Subseries consists of records created during F. Ivor Jackson's term as Executive Secretary of the Welfare Section of the Community Chest and Council of Greater Vancouver (1930?-1951), and his postion as Assistant Executive Director (1951-1952). Includes a History of the Community Chest and Council which he authored (1960).
