Arrangement

The arrangement of the photographs in this subseries is based on the order in which the photographs were placed when the Archives received them. The photographs were grouped in envelopes that were labelled with a brief description of their content, usually including the name or names of the people pictured and an exact or approximate date. In some instances the labels included a place name. For the most part, each file in the subseries represents one envelope. In a few instances, several envelopes with similar labels and contents existed, so their contents were combined into one file per group of similar photographs. The photographs are physically arranged in boxes according to size, and they are ordered file number (e.g., F01, or File 1), and then by item number.
