File contains 24 copies of line map 30 (and 10 ancillary maps) showing changes in wards via by-laws from 1886-1972. Base map shows streets, railways and parks. The ward or polling district boundaries established by each by-law are noted on the respective maps, with notes on the verso concerning the changes. A list of the maps showing the date and by-law number is included. The first 10 maps are stapled with ancillary 1972 comparison maps.

The charts depict shorelines and shoreline development, sounding, underwater cables and pipes, shoals and other impediments to navigation, signals and beacons, land-based transportation infrastructure such as bridges and rail lines, tidal marshes, offshore anchorages and currents.

File consists of three maps of Vancouver: an index map to the sections, an index map to District Lots, and 62 section sheets drawn and revised between ca. 1935 and 1945. Some time between 1946 and 1951 these maps were compiled and reproduced by the City Engineer's Office.
The 62 sectional plates are divided into three groups: the "Old City of Vancouver," Point Grey and South Vancouver. Maps show streets and roads, blocks, lots, legal descriptions, railways, parks, schools, hospital, cemetery, golf courses, retirement homes, and some businesses.

The maps appear to have been collected in relation to the demolition of the first Hotel Vancouver, which had been located at the north-east portion of that block.

The first set of drawings, from 1890, appear to relate to the original construction of the building. The 1907 drawings appear to relate to proposed interior renovations.

All sheets are blueprint copies of a map which is the same as MAP 366. The sheets for Vancouver, Point Grey, South Vancouver and Hastings Townsite have had topographical lines added to the base map; some sheets have been annotated to show proposed roadway and other infrastructure changes.

Maps were compiled by the City Engineer's Office and supplied by the Property and Insurance Office of the City of Vancouver. Maps for sections 68 and 91 were not available at the time of issue.
