Adrian Alexandria de Vander Vogue photographs

Sub-series consists of sixteen photograph albums showing the life of Robert Pogue and his career as drag queen Adrian Alexandria de Vander Vogue. A note written by Ron Dutton in October 2011 was enclosed in the box with the photographs: "Photographic albums of Robert Pogue's career as female impersonator Alexandria de Vander Vogue. 16 photographic albums covering his teenage years in 1960's Hamilton, Ont. to his death in 1992 Vancouver. Donated to the G+L Archives by Sandy Lambert [on] Oct. 20, 2011, who inherited the albums. Condition: albums were disorganized; some photos had adhered to album pages, others had come loose; spiral bindings beginning to rust; album covers and pages deteriorating. Where possible photos were dated from existing archives sources and persons identified. Albums were placed in general chronological order and numbered 1-16. Photographs were detached from pages and labelled with album number, page number, and photo position on the page. A few photos were discarded where they were highly damaged."

Advertising and Awareness Campaign

Subseries contains records relating to BidCorp's local, regional, and national advertising campaigns. IOC guidelines prohibit international advertising, though BidCorp did conduct promotional activities as the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.

Aerial survey photographs

Subseries consists of 25 x 25cm b&w photographs, each showing a perpendicular view along the False Creek area of Vancouver. Printed by Lockwood Survey Corporation, Ltd., and Sierra Survey Corporation, Ltd.. Job number 73-126; items 69420-69463 (incomplete set). Likely used as an initial survey for the False Creek Development Project in the 1970s.

Albert Flegenheimer correspondence

Series consists of correspondence documenting the efforts of Albert Flegenheimer, the company's founder and one of its initial investors, to acquire the investment, capital equipment, land, material and skilled labour needed to set up the Manitoba Sugar Company refinery.

The records document Flegenheimer's efforts to find investors, particularly in Germany and the United States, negotiating support from the Government of Manitoba, acquiring the capital equipment for the mill and attempting to get the equipment out of Europe as World War 2 began, and negotiating with the Government of Canada to acquiring visas and secure transportation for the skilled labourers he would need to fill senior positions at the refinery.

Subseries consists of albums of photographs collected or created by Major James Skitt Matthews. The albums cover a variety of subjects including scenes of early Vancouver, street arches of Vancouver, the construction of the Birks Building, public works activities, lumbering and lumber mills, shipbuilding, bridges, First Nations of British Columbia, and the Canadian Pacific Railway.

Subseries consists of records arising from the annual general meetings of the Vancouver Museums and Planetarium Association.

Subseries also includes a guest book containing the names of those attending the annual general meetings, as well as other meetings.

Architectural drawings on microfiche

Sub-series consists of microfilm copies of Building Department, later Permits and Licensing Department files of architectural drawings, predominantly containing drawings submitted as part of building permit applications. Some of the files in this sub-series consist wholly or in part, of drawings held in sub-series 1.

Arts program files

Subseries consists of correspondence, proposals, planning documents and other records pertaining to the incorporation of the arts into Centennial events and celebrations. Types of arts programs considered include visual art, poetry, dance, music, film, and theatre. Included among the proposals are unsolicited poetry, song lyrics and recorded songs pertaining to Vancouver.

Attendance at the Prague Congress for Award

Subseries contains records relating to the planning and attendance by the formal Canadian delegation to the International Congress of the IOC. Many members of BidCorp and other Canadian dignitaries were chosen to present Vancouver's official bid for the 2010 Winter Olympics before the Congress in Prague, which took place on July 2, 2003. Following the presentations, the IOC chose Vancouver as the site of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Audiovisual material

Series consists of videocassettes with footage of or relating to Vancouver Centennial celebrations. Includes footage of Vancouver in 1986, and footage relating to the city's history, the Commission's plans for the Centennial, "The Vancouver Song," (also known as "Vancouver (you'll always look like home to me)," the "Make Vancouver Sparkle" contest and the April 6th birthday party.

Botanical specimen photographs

The subseries consists of photographs of a specific plant, either showing the whole plant or a close-up of a particular part or parts such as leaves or flowers. Some photographs show multiple plants of the same or closely related varietals or species. Photographs in the subseries were organized alphabetically according to the formal botanical name of the plant featured in the photograph.

The subseries consists of promotional materials produced by the P.N.E., mainly regarding its summer fair. Records include bulletins, programmes, catalogues, prize lists, brochures, posters, prize ribbons, and other materials. Included are prize lists and catalogues for the fair as a whole as well as prize lists and catalogues for specific events, such as livestock shows, pet shows, horticultureal shows, and hobby shows.

Bunton project records

Subseries consists of records from a research project conducted by Dr. Perter Bunton at the City of Vancouver Health Department. The research was intended to test the hypothesis "that children born out-of-wedlock have a poorer prognosis in terms of psychosocial development than children born to comparable mohters and raised in the context of a stable home." The project was a longitudinal survey to the age of 30 months of a cohort of illegitimate babies born in Vancouver between August 14 1972 and February 14 1973. Results were compared to a control group of babies born into two-parent families during the same time period.
Records include research proposals, correspondence, computer printouts of research data, subject case files, and final report.
