Tipping bucket gauge registers

Series consists of bound volumes containing daily measurements of precipitation in Vancouver. The measurements were taken by a tipping bucket gauge at City Hall and are given in inches, to 100ths of an inch. Brief comments on weather conditions, such as "sunny" and "overcast - mild", are also often given.

Subseries consists of records relating to individuals, places, and subjects. Arrangement is alphabetical by name or subject.

Torch relay records

Subseries contains records documenting the development, planning and execution of the Olympic Torch Relay that took place from October 30, 2009 to February 12, 2010. Records include route requests, route planning guides, community recognition guides, a database of torchbearers, correspondence, complaints, and sponsorship information.

Trade and industry

Subseries consists of records relating to inter-departmental and Council involvement in promoting economic development in Vancouver, further to the increased profile of the city during Expo 86. (In 1977 the Industrial Development Office was established (it was soon called the Economic Development Office, and in 1978 the Business Advisory Board (later called the Vancouver Economic Advisory Commission) began meeting; see the related records field below.) Subseries contains records relating to securing and protecting the organization's "Bid Marks," as well as adhering to agreements regarding their use.

Transportation Plan - General

Subseries contains records relating to the development of a transportation plan and delivery model for the movement of athletes, officials, media, volunteers, service providers, and spectators for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Subseries consists of broad transportation studies, as well as more limited studies concerning particular transport modes (e.g., road, rail, air, and marine).

Records include correspondence, memorandums, reports, press releases, work plans, presentations, RFPs, promotional materials, and unsolicited proposals.

Subseries contains records documenting the design and construction of competition and training venues in and around Vancouver, including:

VanDusen subject photographs

The subseries consists of35mm slide photographs showing people, garden scenes, special events and other photographs not included in the Botanical specimens subseries (i.e., all photographs where the intent of the photographer was to document a larger scene, site, event or other subject, rather than a specific plant sample. Photographs in the subseries were arranged by the garden library based on a subject vocabulary created by the library, and given titles based on the content of the image.

VANOC partner relations records

Subseries contains records documenting VANOC's relationships with their partner organizations: the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC); the Government of Canada and Government of British Columbia; the Lil'wat, Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh [Burrard], and Squamish First Nations; and the City of Vancouver and Resort Municipality of Whistler. Records relate to managing relationships with the listed governments and organizations in their roles supporting and hosting the Games. Records consist primarily of correspondence, reports, and planning documents.

Subseries contains records documenting VANOC's overall venue development programme. Records are related to the general oversight of all venue construction, not specific details of particular venues. Records include project plans, construction progress reports, timelines, budget information, project management tools, schedules, correspondence and similar material.

Subseries contains records relating to BidCorp's volunteer program, including informational mailings, wardrobes for major events, and volunteer recognition.

Subseries contains records relating to the activities of the Whistler / Cypress venues work group.

W.J. Moore Cirkut negatives

Subseries consists of negatives created by W.J. Moore during his career as a commercial photographer specializing in panoramic photography. He worked under his own name and Canadian Photo Company. Photograph subjects include: industries (lumber, sawmills, shipping, ship building, pulp and paper, fishing, canneries, mining and agriculture), transportation (railways, ships and automobiles), landscapes and ocean views, waterfronts, harbours and docks, views, houses, buildings, group portraits (military, police, associations, conventions, employees, and social groups), sports and recreation. Geographic areas represented include: Vancouver, Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley, British Columbia and Alberta.

Working files

Subseries consists of records pertaining to administrative matters and includes departmental directives and ciculars, seniority lists, miscellaneous correspondence and working files on Fire Department tours.

Year end files

The subseries consists of files compiled following the completion of fairs and other events at the P.N.E. for one fiscal year. Files include reports, financial statements of revenues and sales, and other related records.
