File contains an album of photographs of the activities of Emily Eliza Matthews (nee Edwardes), who served as a nurse with the No. 5 General Hospital of the Canadian Expeditionary Force from 1915-1919. The photographs were taken mainly in England, Greece and Egypt and depict various scenes of the Hospital, Nurse Edwards, camps and barracks and the countryside. The album also contains some textual records, memorabilia and postcards. The file also includes a book entitled "Daily Thoughts for Daily Thinkers", a day book for 1916. Emily Eliza Matthews was the wife of Major James Skitt Matthews, first City Archivist.
