File consists of records which document planning the location of the Vancouver airport and the design of various buildings at the Sea Island site. The file appears to be made up of records documenting two different businesses for which the department was responsible: designing City buildings, and administering the building permit application process, as most of drawings are original design drawings and tracings from the Vancouver Building Department, who designed most of the earliest structures.

Building Department : Annual reports

File consists of annual reports which are part of the City Publications Collection. Issued by the City Building Inspector on behalf of the Building Department to the City Council Building and Town Planning Committee, they to reporting numbers on permits (building, plumbing, gas, sewer, street, scaffold, etc.), building inspections, building demolition and repair notices, values of City buildings renovation and permit fee collection. As of 1957 expanded reports provide: additional figures; published photographs of typical and special projects of the year; and organization charts of the Building Department.
