Gates and Parking and Exhibit Space records

The series consists of records created and received by the Gates and Parking and Exhibit Space Departments. Records include reports, notes, meeting minutes, lists of exhibitors, and other records.
Series contains two subseries: 1) Gates and Parking records; and 2) Exhibit Space records.

Guest books

The series consists of guest books maintained by the P.N.E. Volumes contain signatures of guests attending various P.N.E. functions.

Correspondence

The series consists of correspondence of the P.N.E. central office and of the Exhibition General Manager. Records include letters received, copies of letters sent, and accompanying materials such as reports, brochures, photographs, bulletins, and other records.

Legal services records

The series consists of records created and received by the Legal Services Department of the P.N.E. Records include correspondence, contracts, and other materials. Records relate to: contracts for use of the Forum and Empire Stadium, various service contracts, the occupation of the Exhibition lands by the Canadian military, and other issues.

Minutes with accompanying reports, financial statements, and other records

The series consists of records arising from the meetings of various committees within the P.N.E., including: administrative committees such as the Executive Committee, the Board of Control, the Finance Committee, and the Publicity Committee; committees surrounding exhibition events, such as the Agriculture, Attractions, Horse Show, Livestock, and Manufacturers' Committees; as well as other committees such as the Golf and Auto Camp Committee, and the Women's Committee. Records include minutes of meetings, reports, financial statements, and other records.

Public Relations and Information and Advertising records

The series consists of records created and received by the Public Relations and Information and Advertising Departments of the P.N.E. Records include subject files, press releases, correspondence, reports, speeches, schedules, newsletters, and other records. Records relate to: general fair publicity, the 1980 Winter Olympics Committee, special events held on P.N.E. grounds, a proposed P.N.E. multiplex building, and other issues.
Series contains two subseries: 1) Public Relations Department records; and 2) Information and Advertising Department records.

Reports, bulletins, programmes, prize lists, and related records

The series consists of various publications and written reports of the P.N.E. Records include reports, surveys, annual reports, bulletins, programmes, prize lists, brochures, and other records.

Subject files

The series consists of subject files maintained by the P.N.E. Records include correspondence, reports, financial records, lists, copies of leases, and other records. Records relate to: auditors of the P.N.E.'s finances, the occupation of the P.N.E. grounds by the Canadian military, various P.N.E. buildings, relations between the P.N.E. and the City of Vancouver, and other issues.

Photographs

Series consists of photographs produced for the P.N.E. and a small number collected by its staff. Photographs document both the Pacific National Exhibition and other events that took place at the Hastings Park site.

Photographs of the fair depict the full range of activities, including: displays, competitions and shows, ceremonies, the annual parade in downtown Vancouver, as well as a wide range of photographs of the Hastings Park site and the interiors and exteriors of various buildings. Some photographs were made by PNE staff as a means of making copies of other types of records, such as architectural drawings and graphic materials such as posters and advertisements, and were kept by staff as part of their photograph collection.

Photographs not related to the fair depict: the military occupation of the grounds, and the use of the grounds as a holding centre for Japanese and Japanese-Canadian internees during Work War II; activities at the Exhibition Park racecourse located at Hastings Park; and various conventions, fairs, entertainment shows and other events staged at the site outside of the fair.
