Biographical history

Mabel Kirk (nee Southcott) was the wife of Alderman Thomas H. Kirk. From 1929-1931 she was the president of the Local Council of Women and from 1933-1935 she was the president of the Women's Canadian Club in Vancouver. In 1936 she served as chair of the Women's Division of the Vancouver Golden Jubilee Committee. In 1947 she was elected president of the Vancouver Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses.

The fonds consists of letters from Charlotte Pedley, 1917-1934, and from her son, Jim Pedley, 1935; copies of letters from Mrs. Kirk regarding the Women's Canadian Club, 1935, and the Victorian Order of Nurses, 1947; and a scroll presented to Mrs. Kirk in 1936 by the Advisory Board and General Committee of Vancouver's Golden Jubilee Committee.
