William Olsen came to Vancouver around 1901 from England, where he had served in the merchant marine and had risen to Third Engineer. In Vancouver he became an industrial pattern maker.

The fonds consists of personal papers, including letters of recommendation; prospectus of Cherry Creek Gold Mining Company, 1901; miniature edition of the Vancouver Sun 1937; correspondence; and photographs of the Olson family, including family portraits and scenes at the Cherry Creek Gold Mining Company.
