Biographical history
The Vancouver Waterworks Company was formed in 1886 by G.A. Keefer and a group of Victoria businessmen to supply Vancouver with water from the Capilano River by means of a pipe laid under the First Narrows. The engineering works were finished and the water first flowed in 1889. In 1891 the rate payers of Vancouver voted to acquire the Company.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of a share register, estimates register, engineering report, a memorandum, prospectus and vote list of the Vancouver Waterworks Company. The fonds also includes a by-law proposing that the City of Vancouver acquire the assets of the company.
