History

The Vancouver Medical Association was founded in 1898 and incorporated in 1906 to: advance scientific, educational, professional and economic welfare of all members; promote the highest quality of health care delivery to the people of BC; and to promote the integrity and honour of the medical profession. Its activities have included the establishment of a medical library, provision of a summer school program, publication of a medical journal, administration of a medical relief program, study of medical-related issues and organization of social events such as the annual Osler dinner. The association has accomplished these goals through sections, which represent a medical specialty, or committees, which carry out the business of the association or examine a particular issue.
