History
William Templeton was born in Ireland in 1889 and came to Vancouver in 1908. In 1911 he helped to build a biplane, which he flew at Minoru Park racetrack (a model of this plane is now in the Smithsonian Institute). He served in W.W.I (1915-1917) with the Royal Naval Air Service. In 1929 he was named manager of the city's 40-acre airfield on Lulu Island. In 1931 he was instrumental in getting the bylaw passed to acquire new airport property on Sea Island. Mr. Templeton retired in 1950, after serving also as Airport Consultant. He died in 1966.
