Administrative history

The architecture firm of Twizell & Twizell was formed in 1908 In Vancouver by English brothers Robert Spencer Percival Twizell and George Sterling Twizell. Both men had been educated at Durham University and had articled with the Newcastle, England firm Hicks & Charlewood, who specialised in Gothic Revival churches.

After completing their training, both Twizell brothers worked for short times for a number of English firms. Between 1901 and 1907, George Twizell emigrated to Montreal, and between late 1907 and early 1908, the brothers arrived in Vancouver.

As well as churches, Twizell and Twizell designed a number of prominent Shaughnessy homes, as well as a number of schools for the Municipality of Point Grey.

George Twizell retired from the firm in 1950; R.P.S. Twizell retired in 1954, winding up the firm at that time.
