Biographical history
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Ernest Le Messurier was educated at the University of British Columbia. He began work as an editorial cartoonist for the Vancouver Sun and the Province while still an undergraduate. In 1924 Le Messurier relocated to Montreal where he became staff cartoonist for the Star, a position he held until his death, save for a short interval in 1925 when he worked for the New York Journal.
