Name of creator
The Rotary Club of Vancouver was organized in 1913, in affiliation with the International Association. It was a businessmen's service organization, with men from various professions joining to raise funds for community projects. Early efforts of the Vancouver Rotary Club were directed at tuberculosis relief, and in 1917 it was decided to establish the Rotary Institute for Diseases of the Chest. Funds were also spent on educational projects, emergency relief, boys' clubs, and occupational rehabilitation. In 1925, the Rotary Club staged its first Ice Carnival for fund raising, and these ice shows have continued to 1980 with the Ice Capades.
