The scripts that pre-date 1970 were transferred to The New Play Centre from the University of British Columbia Extension Library and from the B.C. Centennial Commission (1967).
Scope and content
This series consists of produced and unproduced scripts. There are early drafts and revised versions of some plays and most are dated.

Arrangement
The scripts are arranged in alphabetical order by the last name of the playwright. Plays by the same playwright are filed first under the author's name, then alphabetically by the first word in the title (unless the first word is "the", in which case the second word is used). When there is more than one version or draft of the same play, they are arranged chronologically, beginning with the earliest version. In four instances, plays went through title changes over time. These have been filed chronologically, first under the author's name, then under the title marked with an asterisk (*). Those titles are listed below:
