History
The New Play Centre was formed in 1970 by Sheila Neville, librarian at the University of British Columbia, and Douglas Bankson, a professor in the Creative Writing Department at UBC. Based on writing workshop techniques used by Dr. Bankson, The New Play Centre was founded to develop, produce and promote original plays by B.C. playwrights.
