Biographical history

Louis Drummond McDonald (1890-1937) was a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He moved to Victoria as a child and later established a contracting business there; in 1924 he came to Vancouver, where he operated a shingling contractor's business and a dairy. McDonald served on City Council for Ward V in 1932 and sat on the Building, Civic Planning and Parks Committee of Council until his death.

The fonds consists of a scrapbook of clippings, speeches and letters kept by Alderman McDonald from 1933-1935 concerning the building of the new Vancouver City Hall.
