Administrative history
The International Typographical Union was established in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A. in May 1852. The Vancouver branch, Union No. 226, was established in 1887.

Scope and content
Collection consists of copies of the programs issued for the 85th Convention of the I.T.U., held at Vancouver 16-23 August 1941, the proceedings of the meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the I.T.U., held at Vancouver 18-23 August 1941, and an outline history of Union No. 226 by Mr. George Bartley. The collection also contains copies of "Typo Times", a weekly news sheet issued by the Union during the Vancouver Province strike of 1946-1948. In addition, there are broadsheets issued at the time of the 1946-1948 strike and the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Union, as well as invitation cards issued on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the I.T.U. No. 226.
