Mount Pleasant, A Neighbourhood History
Part of Andrea B. Smith collection
This paper, entitled "Mount Pleasant, A Neighbourhood History", was the result of a summer project in 1975. Although development began in the 1870s, Mount Pleasant did not receive its name until 1888. As transportation routes changed and improved, the district grew, especially during the period of dramatic expansion in 1910. The area now extends from False Creek as far south as Sixteenth Avenue, bounded by Cambie on the west and Clark on the east.
