Film consists of raw footage shot at Expo 86 and includes footage of RCMP officers interacting with the crowds, views of the Expo grounds from the monorail, crowds, the Roundhouse, the carousel, jugglers and mimes, demonstrations of prototype human-powered flying machines, views of the Expo grounds from the gondolas, the Expo 86 Air Plaza, the Plaza of Nations, people interacting with statues and stationary vehicles, Highway 86 a gray bridge structure with various modes of ground transport vehicles all painted a matching gray colour; people interacting and walking around the vehicles, children playing at the UFO H2O water park, and the Expo grounds. The film also includes footage of a number of signs of Gastown businesses and places including Bootlegger, The Dublin House Irish Fashions, Tiffany Coiffures, Brother John's Restaurant, Cottage Deli Soup 'n' Sandwich, and Blood Alley Square. The film also includes footage taken at VanDusen Botanical Display Garden including shots of the entrance sign, parking lot, administration building, garden entrance, flowers, several ponds, a fountain, MacMillan Bloedel Place, children feeding geese, pavilions, ducks, swans, a bee, and a blue heron.

Item is a documentary film documenting downtown Vancouver at night and is mostly made up of footage of neon and illuminated electric signs on Granville Street and in Chinatown. The film documents Granville Street at night, with crowds on the sidewalks and many illuminated electric signs visible, including those of the Orpheum, Vogue, and Odeon theatres. Also included is footage of a lighted fountain, the Hudson's Bay Company Building, and traffic signals. The film also documents the neon signs of a numerous restaurants and businesses in Chinatown, including the Marco Polo Restaurant, Ho Ho Chop Suey, the South Seas, Cathay Importers Company Limited, Ho Inn Chop Suey, Ming's, Asia Garden, and Loon Foon Kwok restaurant.
