Celebrating Chinese children festival : photo album

Item is an album of photographs by Leong Dong Bing of events that took place as part of the Celebrating Chinese Children Festival held in Vancouver in April 1943 to raise money for Chinese war refugees. The album is addressed to a school in New Westminster.

Fashion parades, February 1960 and undated slides

File consists of twelve photographs of a February 1960 fashion parade in Chinatown attended by Mayor A.T. Alsbury and Miss Vancouver Chinatown 1960 Donna Yee, as well as two photographs of a parade in Chinatown, likely taken in 1960.

Mayor McGeer

Bound volume includes includes photographs of Mayor McGeer's portrait, group portrait of the 1935 City Council, Council and staff at the temporary City Hall site (interior view), and McGeer turning the first sod at the new City Hall site as well as photographs showing McGeer reading the riot act at Victory Square, April 23, 1935, to disperse demonstrators involved in the sit down strike of 1935 and other views of demonstrators, and photographs of the May Day parade and events downtown at the Cambie Street Grounds and Stanley Park, including an effigy of McGeer at Victory Square.

Sea Festival 1985

File consists of twenty-six prints and ten negative strips with a total of thirty-eight images pertaining to the Vancouver Centennial Commission's participation in the 1985 Sea Festival parade. Twenty-four of the prints were printed from the negatives. Includes images of Tillicum, as well as groups representing Expo '86, the Greater Vancouver Convention & Visitors Bureau, White Spot and the RCMP. VCC Chairman Michael Francis appears in a few of the photographs.

File consists of slides, originally arranged in slide sheets and a binder, depicting activities and events organized by the Vancouver Centennial Commission. Includes slides relating to the following: (K) April 6th (2011-010.561 to 2011-010.727); (L) Vancouver AM sign unveiling (2011-010.728 to 2011-010.743); (M) Fools parade (2011-010.744 to 2011-010.762); (N) Tillicum's birthday party (2011-010.763 to 2011-010.770); (P) Chinese New Year (2011-010.771 to 2011-010.801); (Q) Tillicum at Lougheed Mall (2011-010.802 to 2011-010.820); and (R) Tony Onley at Agency Press (2011-010.821 to 2011-010.838). April 6th events and activities depicted include the arrival of Governor General Jeanne Sauve at the train station; the birthday celebration at Brockton Point, Stanley Park, including the cutting of the birthday cake; re-dedication of the fountain at Lost Lagoon; fireworks; and a formal dinner.
Individuals depicted in the slides include Mayor Michael Harcourt, Governor General Jeanne Sauve, Toni Onley, Vancouver Centennial Committee Chairman Michael Francis and Centennial Committee members.
