Royal visit to Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia

Item is a film shot by Douglas Scott of the royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Victoria, British Columbia, in May of 1939. The film features the following intertitles and content: "It is late Spring and Dame Nature has contrived a Royal Background for a Royal Visit," with shots of vividly-colored flowers of many varieties; "After nightfall on May Twenty-ninth, two very Gracious People arrive on the Western Terminus of their Canadian Tour : In their honor the city is illuminated," with shots of the British Columbia Parliament Buildings adorned with lights in the darkness of night, and a fountain glowing with various colors; "Government House, where their Majesties stayed in Victoria" and "The interior of the Royal Suite;" "The next day at City Hall" and "...and at the Parliament Buildings," with shots of the parade and events of the day; "Royal Colors are presented to the Royal Canadian Navy that afternoon" and "The March Past," which captures military ceremonies involving the royals.

Item is an amateur film which captures flowers, trees, and foliage, with the British Columbia Parliament buildings at times visible in the background; and women riding horses and playing with a dog. The latter half of the film captures labourers painting the Pattullo Bridge (New Westminster, B.C.) while hoisted on pulleys or simply free climbing. The workers, covered with paint themselves, pose together at the end of the film.

"Morning show" - Stanley Park and Queen Elizabeth Park part #1

Item is a documentary film documenting The Morning Show's coverage of visits to Stanley Park and Queen Elizabeth Park with interviewer Ross Mortimer and host Doug Campbell. The program was aired on CBUT (Channel 2) in 1963 and contains footage of Ross Mortimer's interview in Stanley Park with Stuart Lefeaux, Superintendent of Parks in greater Vancouver. Lefeaux discusses various aspects of the interaction between parks, the Parks Board and the public as well as Parks Board personnel, Stanley Park history, recreational activities, and services offered to the public such as supervised playgrounds and refreshment services. In addition, the film documents a visit to Queen Elizabeth Park including footage of Century Rock, which is a time capsule located there that is to be opened in 2054. During the visit, Ross Mortimer interviews Grace McCarthy, Parks Board Commissioner, about the park's history, current uses and future visions and planning. The film also documents Ross Mortimer's interview with the park's landscape designer who discusses garden design as well as various types of trees and flowers in the park.

Item is a video with a behind-the-scenes video titled "The making of Barclay personal taste," which shows the making of a Barclays commercial, as well as samples, of different lengths, of commercials made for Barclays. Features various sets, setting up sets, shots of downtown Vancouver and inside the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch, actors and film crews. Video also includes a making of video for the commercial "Manifesto 2002 Caritas Brunnen" and samples of a German and English version of the finished commercial. Features a model of a mouth. "Manifesto Films August 2002 making of CableCom in Vancouver" gives a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a commercial for CableCom. Mountain Springtime [answer print]

Film was a wildlife/educational piece presented by B.C. Hydro and narrated by Tommy Tompkins. Produced and edited by Michael Collier. Film features footage of swelling rivers, many different flora as well as wild animals, and their young, in their natural habitats. Wildlife featured include: moose, deer, beaver, squirrels, muskrats, geese, groundhogs, loons, osprey, fish, black bears, owls, raccoons, gyrfalcons, eagles, mountain goats, foxes, lynx, a lynx kitten, cougar kittens, marmots, and grizzly bears. This copy is in better shape than MI-275, and has unique introductory narration and footage as well as other editing differences throughout slightly changing the footage used as well as the narration.
