The story follows a couple living in New York trying to impress their neighbours and boss by telling everyone that they were going on an African vacation that the Johnson's could not actually afford. Hilarity ensues as they hide out in their own home and various neighbours who have keys to their apartment take advantage of the 'empty' home for the two week vacation period. The small family grows closer in crisis and decide to make some life changing choices.

Vancouver and Stanley Park

Item is a documentary film documenting Stanley Park, downtown Vancouver, the Vancouver Planetarium, and Vanier Park. The film documents a number of attractions within Stanley Park including the Stanley Park Miniature Railway, Stanley Park Junction, various sections of the seawall, the Brockton Point Lighthouse, Coal Harbour Marina, Elek Imredy's sculpture Girl in a Wetsuit, the replica figurehead of the RMS Empress of Japan, tennis courts, Prospect Point lookout, Lost Lagoon, the Stanley Park Golf Course, totem poles, and the Lions Gate (First Narrows) Bridge (1938-). The film also includes footage of birds including Canada geese, seagulls, swans, mallard and wood ducks, and peacocks. The film documents Vancouver Harbour and its facilities, and includes footage of shipping containers, cranes, cargo ships, seabus, and a floatplane.

The film also documents downtown Vancouver and includes footage of numerous prominent buildings including the Marine Building, Vancouver Harbour Centre, Bayshore Inn, the Westcoast Energy Building, Hotel Vancouver, the Provincial Court House, Robson Square under construction, the Georgia Medical Dental Building, the Bank of Nova Scotia Tower, TD Tower, the Vancouver Block, Commodore Ballroom, Sun Tower, Dominion Building, Andrew Wesley Church, and the Hudson's Bay Company building. The film also contains night footage of the Vancouver skyline, Granville Street with illuminated signs, a fountain lit by coloured lights, and neon signs in Chinatown, including those for the Marco Polo Chinese Smorgasbord, Loon Foon Kwok restaurant, Ming's, South Seas Dining Lounge, Ho Inn Chop Suey, and Bing C. Wong & Associates Accounting and Taxation Service.

Film also includes footage of the exterior of the Bloedel Conservatory, a tugboat in False Creek, the downtown Vancouver skyline as viewed from Kitsilano, an old house (number 1160, street unknown), sailboats in English Bay, the Vancouver Planetarium, Vanier Park, and Beach Avenue as seen across False Creek from Vanier Park.

Item is an organizational record film documenting firefighters tending to a car crash on Clark Drive and an apartment building fire. The first segment shows a totalled car, with firefighters searching for victims in the burnt car and coroners coming to take the bodies away. Also includes an interview with the first police officer on the scene, Robert Clooney. The second segment shows firefighters fighting an apartment building fire by aerial ladder and performing first aid for victims, including one injured firefigher. A police boat is stationed in the water in front of the building.

Item is an organizational record film documenting a fire hose demonstration with Mayor Tom Campbell attending and the Vancouver Fire Department fighting four Vancouver fires. The fire hose demonstration takes place in front of Mine Mill Marine Machinery near the Cambie swingspan bridge. Also shows Johnston Terminals, a tug boat, the new Granville Street Bridge, the Fire Chief being interviewed, and men in scuba suits kicking boards that have fire hoses spouting water. Film also shows apartment building fire, fire at Hudson Plating Co. Ltd. at W 5th and Alberta St., fire at a Danish bakery at W 4th and Stephens, and a fire at a rail shipping and loading station on the docks, which shows Fireboat No. 2 in action.

Item is a newsreel documenting the visit of Governor-General his excellency the Right Honourable the Earl of Bessborough, PC, GCMG, and her excellency the Countess of Bessborough with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Hamber to the Britannia Mines. The film shows footage of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Hamber arriving at Ballantyne Pier; meeting with the members of the Vancouver Harbour Commission (President S. McClay, Commissioner J. B. Thomas, and Commissioner R. D. Williams); greeting his excellency the Right Honourable the Earl of Bessborough and her excellency the Countess of Bessborough; and boarding their yacht Vencedor; the Britannia Mines band and Mr. C. P. Browning, manager of the Britannia Mines, officially receiving the visiting party at the Britannia Mines piers; and the visiting party inspecting the concentration and machine shop at the Britannia Mines. The film also includes images of the Vancouver skyline and the BC coastline taken during the seavoyage to and from the Britannia Mines, an aerial views of Britannia Beach and Howe Sound, as well an official shot of the crew of the Vencedor yacht.
