Collection consists of information acquired by Adrien Mansvelt, the Consul General of the Netherlands stationed in Vancouver in the early 1970s. The records were largely collected on behalf of the City of Vancouver Archives in agreement with the City Archivist at the time, and therefore do not form a personal collection. The records relate to the ancestors of George Vancouver and his family connection to the van Coeverden family of the town of Coevorden in the Netherlands.
The collection consists of photographs, prints, magazine articles, pamphlets, maps and plans. Most of the material has been reproduced from various repositories in Europe.

Item is an atlas consisting of sixteen map plates published in 1798, based on George Vancouver's surveys of North West America 1791-1795. All maps show depth soundings, routes of the HMS Discovery and HMS Chatham as well as the portions of coast surveyed.
