Mother and child - early 1950s

Item is a home movie of two women holding a baby and opening gifts with baby clothes. Then the baby is shown as a toddler crawling around a carpet and playing with toys. Later the woman and child pose to be photographed in front of a Christmas tree and piano.

Item is a film showing a family celebrating Christmas. Film contains scenes with children unwrapping presents, playing Twister and board games, women preparing food, kittens playing, a dachshund puppy playing, a child getting a haircut in the bathroom, and Christmas decorations. The film ends with footage of school children participating in running races, potato sack races, relay races, and three-legged races on school grounds.

Item is a film showing Wayne McCuaig's seventh birthday party with a pony, a Halloween party, Christmas celebrations 1958, Britannia Beach with friends Laura West and Patsy McCannell, sports day at school, Patricia McCuaig playing the accordion, Queen Elizabeth opening Deas Island Tunnel (now Massey Tunnel) in July 1959, summer camp, water skiing, playing football and time with neighbours.

Also shown is a trip to Ozama, Dominican Republic including swimming scenes at the beach and pool, a Christmas party and locals singing, dancing and fishing.

Item contains random pieces of footage including some crime reenactment scenes (that have fairly bad video dropout), Christmas themed graphics featuring actors faces in Christmas decorations, a close-up shot of a Christmas tree ornament, graphics for a Christmas-themed "Sports Page with Dave Rondorf," a Canucks logo with holly, BC Lions logo with a Santa Claus hat, a Christmas Vancouver 86ers logo, other holiday graphics, people at a [Christmas] party, UTV Holiday Magic graphics and advertisement, "Sports Page Freestyle Challenge" graphic, people on a skytrain car as well as footage from the front of a skytrain car near Main St Station, Broadway Station as well as stations in Burnaby and New Westminister, also includes footage of ticket machines, escalators and skytrain cars entering and exiting stations, a graphic/animation that reads "name the three disciplines of freestyle skiing," and a graphic that reads "the first 20 years;" this is the segment that might have been created for the Snowbirds 20th Anniversary celebration documentary. Screens between segments are black or colour bars. The last couple minutes are a black screen with music. Audio is often silent, at times there is classical or jazz music.

Item is television commercials produced by Yaletown Productions for Manifesto Films Europe. Featuring: IKEA, 20 spots, 5 different commercials each in four language versions. The client is IKEA, and each commercial is presented in German, French, Italian and English. All five English versions come at the end of the tape while the foreign language versions alternate. Commercials grab the viewer's attention with humorous and risque themes.
