Ted [Taylor]

File consists of Mary Louise Taylor Werbel records relating to Ted Taylor and accumulated after his death. Includes correspondence and cards pertaining to Ted's death in 1963 and correspondence relating to his share of royalties for "The Left Handed Dictionary" in 1972.

File also includes newspaper articles concerning L.D. and Ted Taylor, and records pertaining to L.D.'s death and Ted and Ken's trip to Vancouver to settle the estate. File also contains a Conference of Studio Unions press release, a photograph of Sam Simpkin and a card from the Screen Actors Guild.

[Correspondence regarding L.D. Taylor death and funeral]

File consists of correspondence pertaining to the death and funeral of L.D. Taylor. Includes two letters from Ted Taylor to Mary Louise Taylor, in which he describes visits to L.D. in the hospital, funeral arrangements, the funeral ceremony and procession through town, as well as local strike activity. File also contains letter from to Ken and Ted from J.S. Matthews, City Archivist, regarding the dispersal of some of L.D.'s possessions.

L.D.T. [L.D. Taylor - death and funeral]

File consists of correspondence, photographs, notes, lists, inventories, and financial and other records pertaining to the death of L.D. Taylor, his funeral and the settlement of his estate. File includes two photographs of the funeral and two letters from Vancouver City Archivist J.S. Matthews. One letter concerns the naming of "Taylor Manor" in honour of L.D., and the other letter describes the turnout for L.D.'s funeral procession, Matthew's memories of L.D. and his selection of a cigar and L.D.'s chair for the Archives. Also included in the file is correspondence from Ted Taylor to Edith Baker concerning L.D.'s funeral and burial, and correspondence with Ken and various companies pertaining to the settlement of L.D.'s estate and the shipping of items to the U.S. The file also contains Ted's notes concerning the births, deaths and final resting places of immediate relatives in the Taylor and Pierce families, and a death claim statement listing details of L.D.'s health.

[L.D. Taylor - copied material, circa 1926 to 1946]

File consists of copies of letters, news articles and photographs relating to L.D. Taylor, possibly provided to Ted Taylor by Vancouver City Archivist J.S. Matthews. Includes a 1932 letter to L.D. from Franklin D. Roosevelt, Matthews' notes regarding his visit with Ted and Ken Taylor in June 1946, an excerpt from Matthews' obituary for L.D., and some historical notes related to Alice Berry Taylor. File also includes photocopies of CVA 1477-107 and CVA 1477-108, a photograph of L.D. Taylor with Amelia Earhart and a few other men on the court house stairs, and a photograph of L.D. standing with some pilots and holding a child wearing an American flag costume.

File consists of Ted Taylor's personal and professional correspondence, financial records, two photographs, drafts of writings, notes, minutes, newspaper clippings, cards and other records. File includes several letters to L.D. Taylor and from L.D. to Ted and Ken Taylor. Some letters include newspaper clippings pertaining to L.D. L.D.'s letters also include some discussion of provincial politics, his plans for the development of northern British Columbia, his desire to travel to the Peace River area, and the potential annexation of part of Canada to the U.S. Ted's letters discuss work, family activities and the birth of Mary Louise Taylor's son Peter. File also includes some Octavia Beaton correspondence.
File additionally contains minutes, contitution and bylaws of the People's Education Centre, as well as correspondence, leaflets, invitations and other material from groups such as the National Citizens' Committee for Winifred Lynn, Technocracy, Anti-Fascist Refugee Committee, Screen Cartoonists Guild and the United States Civil Service Commission.

File consists of Ted Taylor's private and professional correspondence, financial records and receipts, studio passes, clippings, notes, diagrams, postcards, cards, photo card and other material. Includes a letter from Ken Taylor regarding a visit to L.D. Taylor, several letters from L.D. to Ken and Ted and some letters from Ted to L.D. A few of L.D.'s letters discuss Western Canada's political issues and his original intention to settle in Alaska, not Vancouver, when he left Chicago. File also contains records relating to Ted's work for the Screen Publicists Guild and his involvement with the Los Angeles Central Labor Council and the Los Angeles Newspaper Guild. Also included in the file is material received from the Hollywood Democratic Committee and the Federated Press, as well as greetings and cards from Industrial Films, Carl and Gerda Lerner and Darby St. John.

Ted Taylor outgoing correspondence discusses family activities, his career, including work with the War Labor Board, and the Hollywood strike. File also contains a draft review of a Leonard Louis Levinson production and related correspondence. Other records within this file relate to Ted's association with the Central Labor Council, the Los Angeles Newspaper Guild and the Screen Publicists Guild. File also contains a photograph in a Christmas card of Edith and Arthur Baker. Objects in this file are badges from Ken Taylor's military uniform, a Nazi badge and a yellow Star of David badge bearing the German word 'Jude'.
