The collection consists of a consultant's report "Kitsilano Railway Bridge - Assessment of the Steel Spans" prepared in 1981 by Buckland and Taylor Ltd. for B.C. Hydro. Plans and photographs are included in the report. In addition, there are engineering plans by J. Coughlan & Sons, and Waddell & Harrrington dated 1914, plans by various other firms dated 1900-1901 of the swing bridge over Columbia River, and a plan by the B.C. Electric Company Ltd. dated 1960 showing the swing span, fixed truss and old support and protection piers of the Kitsilano Bridge. The first C.P.R. Kitsilano trestle across False Creek was built in 1886. It was modified over the years and finally taken down in 1982. It was located between the Burrard Street Bridge and Granville Street Bridge.
