Maps - convenience copies

Series consists of reproduced copies of maps, plans, charts, and surveys, mainly pertaining to the exploration, history, and development of Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, but also including geographic locations outside of this area. Also included are various early maps of Canada, North America, and the World and several maps featuring local Indian place names.

Series consists of materials which were collected by the Vancouver Museums and Planetarium Association, sometimes through the Vancouver Museum. Items includes newspapers, magazines, newsletters, newspaper clippings, pamphlets and programmes, postcards, unpublished manuscripts, books, notes, letters, certificates and deeds, photographs, sound recordings, posters, maps, and other materials.

Fonds consists of records arising from the activities of the Vancouver Museums and Planetarium Association.
Fonds includes constitutions and bylaws; minutes of meetings; financial records such as financial statements, budgets, and membership fee receipts; annual reports; correspondence and memoranda; guest books; records of the President and of the Director, including reports, policy statements, contracts, budgets, correspondence; and items collected by the Association, such as newspapers and clippings, pamphlets, photographs, manuscripts and books, and other materials.
As a result of the close relationship between the Vancouver Museums and Planetarium Association and the Vancouver Museum, some records relating to the Vancouver Museum are contained within this fonds. This is the case especially for records created before 1958, during which time the Vancouver Museums and Planetarium Association was responsible for the everyday management of the Vancouver Museum.
Fonds consists of nine series: 1) Constitutions, agreements, and other legal establishment records; 2) Minutes; 3) Financial records; 4) Annual reports; 5) Correspondence; 6) Guest and scrap books; 7) President's and Director's records; 8) Collected items; and 9) Collected photographs.

The collection consists of a warrant from the "Committee of Plundered Ministers" directing the payment of six pounds [sterling] to Gabriel Wilkinson, minister of the Parish Church at Woobourne, Bucks., dated 23 March 1651.

Collected publications

Series consists of publications collected by BC Sugar or the BC Sugar Museum in support of various operational activities. The main portion of the collection is made up of various sugar industry publications from Canada and other countries. The collection also includes publications about the history of the sugar industry in Canada and other countries, government reports concerning the sugar industry as well as sugar research serials and publications. The series includes publications of BC Sugar subsidiaries Manitoba Sugar Comapny and Canadian Sugar Factories.

Fonds consists of records which document a wide range of functions and activities of The British Columbia Sugar Refining Company, Limited, its holding company, BC Sugar Refinery, Limited, and various subsidiaries. The functions and activities include: corporate governance and capitalization; shareholder relations; acquisition, management and oversight of subsidiaries and other investments; liaison with stakeholders, including other sugar manufacturers; research on sugar beet production and sugar refining; international sugar trading; development and maintenance of production facilities; promotion of sugar use by consumers; and financial, human resources, and other administrative activities that supported the operations of the Company.

The records include correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, a variety of types of financial records, laboratory analysis and refining records, photographs of staff and facilities, marketing artwork, publications, and technical and architectural plans of various refineries and mills. Much of the audio visual material documents the sugar industry, with emphasis on refineries and sugar plantations owned by BC Sugar and its subsidiaries.

Lease agreement and Edinburgh Soldiers' association articles

File consists of two parchments: one is the Articles of the Society of the Edinburgh City Guards, Soldiers, etc. dated 15 Dec. 1794, and an Indenture for a one-year lease between John Siday and William Purchas [?] with William Godfrey and John Stacye, dated 2nd Feb. 1671.

A kind of honey

File contains items removed from BC Sugar Museum display case titled: 'A kind of honey.' The contents of the case were four prints depicting sugar refining taken from a copy of Diderot's OEconomie Rustique, one print depicting a Brazilian sugar factory, and three books on sugar cultivation and refining.

BC Sugar Museum records

Sous-fonds consists of both the operational records of the BC Sugar Museum and the materials collected by the Museum for its holdings to document both the history of BC Sugar and its subsidiaries, the history of the Rogers family, and to a lesser degree, the history of sugar refining in Canada.

Records in the sous-fonds include a wide variety of business records removed from the BC Sugar recordkeeping system, reference material accumulated by Museum staff, photographs, small artifacts and other display material, books and other publications, and a small collections of business records of sugar refiners not associated with BC Sugar. Records are arranged by Museum function, media or company of origin.

BC Sugar Museum display case materials

Series contains items removed from the display cases at the BC Sugar Museum as they were organized in October of 2011 and other materials intended for display but not on display at time of donation. The display case names imposed by the BC Sugar Museum staff have been maintained as part of the file titles in this series.
