Western Canada annual air show, Vancouver Airport, Aug. 1st 1936
Item is a photograph showing six men in front of an airplane at the Western Canada annual air show. Note under title written by Major Matthews: "Left to right: Joseph (Indian name Splahk-tum) from Tswassen, also spelt Che-woet-sun. (Ladner). 2. A school boy; son of Chief Jack Stogan. 3. Chief Jack Stogan, Indian name Semilano, of Musqueam, 4. Chief Moses Joseph, of Ustlawn, North Vancouver. 5. Chief Jimmy Jimmy, Indian name Swahsh, about 80, of Kowtain (A.J. Khatsahlano calls it Showsham). 6. Councillor Stanley Joseph, brother of Chief Moses. The Indians were invited to greet some "first" aeroplane; afterwards went up in it, flew above Vancouver, etc. Being in radiophone contact with ground, Indians were asked to comment as they passed over familiar places, to listeners of air pagaent. Chief Jimmy Jimmy commented most."
