Series consists of records relating to Osborne J. Pierce's career as an architect and his position as a Superintendent of Drawing for the City of Chicago Department of Public Instruction. Whannell, J.P., dated 31 December 1858, one from George Perrier, J.P., at Hill's Bar dated 4 January 1859, and an excerpt of a letter from Governor Moody dated 17 January 1859. There are also four letters sent from Governor Douglas to Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton dated 8 January, 20 January, 5 February, and 10 February 1859.

Places photographed include Point Defiance Park, Tacoma Washington; Grouse Mountain, British Columbia; River Forest, Illinois; Sawtelle, California; and an architectural firm, possibly in Redlands, California.
