Paralympic Torch Relay - selected photographs

Series consists of photographs taken of the Paralympic Torch Relay (PTR). The PTR took place over ten days from March 3-12, 2010. The images in this series were selected by VANOC staff/contractors from the daily images taken by the photographers assigned to cover the relay, to be used for promotional puproses by VANOC and the PTR corporate sponsor, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). Each day of the PTR contained similar components: a Flame Creation ceremony conducted by representatives from a First Nation local to the place the PTR was occuring on that day, a Community Celebration event with performers and speakers, and the relay itself. The itinerary for the relay was:

Olympic Torch Relay - torchbearer photographs

Series consists of photographs of torchbearers participating in the Olympic Torch Relay. The series is organized into files, with one field for each day of the relay. Each day typically has one photograph of each torchbearer participating in the relay on that day. Some torchbearers were not captured. The Olympic flame was lit at a ceremony in Olympia Greece on Oct. 22, 2009. The relay took place from October 30, 2009 to Feb. 12, 2010.

Series consists of photographs from the Torch Relay, which took place from Oct. 30, 2009 to Feb. 12, 2010, as well as photographs from related events immediately prior to the relay, including the lighting ceremony (and rehearsals for the ceremony) in Olympia Greece on Oct. 22, 2009.

The images in this series were selected by VANOC staff/contractors from the daily images taken by the photographers assigned to cover the relay. VANOC organized the images into four groups - one for VANOCs own use, and three for distribution to the relay's corporate and government sponsors: Coca-Cola, Royal Bank of Canada, and the Government of Canada. As such, this series has been organized into three sub-series to reflect these groupings:

The content of the VANOC image set and the Government of Canada image set were found to be identical in content and organization, so only one set was retained, and assigned to a single sub-series.

Series consists of biographical materials, which the donor collected and enclosed with the records. Includes Barratt family history, copies of images of Harry Barratt and his family [ca. 1916-195-?], and genealogical details.

Series consists of records related to the delivery of Chinese Canadian Historical Society programs including workshops, lectures, research projects and exhibitions. Series includes Planning Committee minutes, agendas, reports, briefs, correspondence, reference materials, news clippings, publications, news clippings and publicity materials.

Series consist of guidelines, notes and worksheets from various programs provided by the PEERS Vancouver Resource Society. The programs provided courses and workshops on life-skills, job-searching techniques and interview skills.

Series consists of meeting minutes, reports, procedure files and financial records created by the PEERS Vancouver Resource Society in the course of carrying out its administrative functions.

Have Camera will Travel series

Series consists of moving image and textual records that were created in the process of making the pilot episode of "Have Camera Will Travel." In the early stages of planning the proposed television documentary series was referred to "Picture Perfect." Paper records include correspondence, contracts, travel plans, research, scripts, and other records specifically related to the film elements.

Series contains the business records of Post Digital Works including correspondence, client information, quotes, inventory records, draft contracts, as well as other legal and financial records.

Weird Jobs series

Series consists of notes and research related to the proposed television series spin off of "Weird Homes" and "Weird Wheels:" "Weird Jobs." The series was not picked up.

VANOC 2010 Bid Corporation records

Records in this series relate to proposals for venue sites and their associated requirements, including venues for ice hockey and sledge hockey, speed skating and short track speed skating, curling, nordic skiing, alpine skiing, snowboard, freestyle skiing events. Records also relate to the proposed Richmond Trade and Convention Centre, and to the initial meeting of VANOC's Board of Directors.

New classics with Rob Feenie series

Series contains scripts and episode sketches for the cooking show, produced by Yaletown Entertainment, called "New classics with Rob Feenie." In addition, the series contains correspondence with the Food Network, crew lists, budgets, composer agreements, and other documents created in the process of producing the television show.

Weird Homes series

Series consists of a copy of the Gemini Award presentation to Mike Collier, Nov. 6 1999 for TV series "Weird Homes" - Best Canadian Lifestyle series and related textual records.

Project administration records

Series consists of records dealing with the overall administration of the Dunbar History Project and includes meeting minutes, budgets, planning notes, grant applications and other documents created in the course of researching, writing, publishing, and promoting "The Story of Dunbar: Voices of a Vancouver Neighbourhood." The series is divided into two subseries; the History committee subseries and the Fundraising subseries.

Communications Division videotapes

Series consists of half hour programs broadcast by Rogers Television and hosted by Arlene Ami. 1998 programs were co-produced by the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver School Board. 1999-2005 programs were co-produced by the City of Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD). Production was coordinated by the Communications Division of the Office of the City Clerk, which described the contents as follows: "Stories in the 1998 season focused on City of Vancouver and Vancouver School Board issues. Subsequent seasons concentrated on municipal and regional issues - both current and past - with the intention of expanding the public's understanding of the people, events and issues that shape the region." Series consists of the research material gathered for the purpose of writing "The Story of Dunbar: Voices of a Vancouver Neighbourhood." The series is divided into four subseries mimicking the organization used by the records creator; the History resources subseries, the Interview tapes subseries, the Interview worksheets and transcriptions subseries and the Photographs subseries.

Teck Resources/Teck Cominco series

Series consists of textual records and moving image material related to the industry films "Red Dog Mine" and "A Temporary Use of the Land" created by Yaletown Productions for Teck Resources Ltd. Tech Resources was known as Teck Cominco until 2008, formed from the amalgamation of Teck and Cominco in 2001. Teck Resources also owns Highland Valley Copper, which is known as Teck Highland Valley Copper.

City of Vancouver Heritage Awards nomination packages

Series consists of records documenting the nomination of projects for City of Vancouver Heritage Awards by property owners, developers, interested individuals and community groups.

The series consists of records supporting nominations, including: nomination forms, descriptions of the projects, publications relating to the projects, photographs and architectural drawings documenting the design and implementation of the project, press clippings, and for non-building nominations the material which had been nominated.

Survey records

Series consists of observational data records accumulated for the annual Christmas Bird Count surveys conducted in various Lower Mainland locations as well as records of the Jericho Park Habitat Survey project.

VANOC central records

This series is one of the two main accumulations of VANOC’s core business records (the other being the digital records managed using Microsoft SharePoint 2007). The records document operational activities VANOC engaged in to prepare for and execute the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and administrative activities required to sustain VANOC as an organization. Records in this series relate to:

Communicating and managing relationships with the general public (including promotion and marketing of the Games), members of the Olympic Family (International Olympic/Paralympic Committees, National Olympic/Paralympic Committees, International Sporting Federations), Federal, Provincial, Municipal and First Nations governments, sponsors, broadcasters and media, and community groups and organizations;

Organizing sporting competitions (including related supporting services and logistics such as transportation, medical services and drug testing), ceremonies (opening, closing and medal presentations), and cultural events;

Preparing venues for competition and non-competition events, and athlete accommodations, including the design and construction of new venues where required;

Governance of VANOC and the management of its financial and legal affairs, employees and volunteers, and office space.

Records in this series are primarily unpublished analogue textual documents, publications, photographs, artistic drawings, and renderings of technical drawings, architectural designs and maps. Some digital records stored on optical media (CDs and DVDs) are present; these were interfiled among the received files. They have been physically separated from the records, but remain intellectually associated with the records through the relevant file descriptions. This series does not include the core accumulation of digital business records. These were managed using Microsoft SharePoint 2007, and did not use the same organization as the records in this series.

Records have been organized into the following subseries based on VANOC’s records classification system (RCS). The RCS was organized into 50 sections, each related to a major functional area. See individual subseries descriptions for detailed scope and content notes.

Belize project series

Series consists of records related to the production of a pilot episode set in Belize, for a series of television documentires called "Journeys of Discovery" or "Into the Unknown." The records included in this series include the 8 minute promotional video for the pilot, series proposals, correspondence, and other related documents.

Urban Safari series

Series contains textual records and moving image material directly related to pre-production and production activities of the feature film "Urban Safari." Series includes music agreements, raw footage, financing, scripts, paper work involved in hiring and find actors, other staff and crew issues, and the film itself.

Series contains textual records related to the promotion and sale of the feature film "Urban Safari." Includes financial records, copies of correspondence with distributors, records related to promotion of the film and accompanying documents.

The Greater Vancouver Book records

Series contains edits and drafts of essays that would become chapters in the Greater Vancouver Book (1997). In addition, the records contain correspondence with commentary on the progression of the book.

Series consists of raw footage and completed films produced by Yaletown Productions for the Vancouver aerospace and electronic industries. Footage included in this series was also edited into two short programs for the B.C. government.

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence created and collected by Will Koop, Elaine Golds (on behalf of Burke Mountain Naturalists) and Paul Hundal (on behalf of the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation - SPEC). Correspondence was mainly addressed to the Greater Vancouver Regional District relating to the concerns of logging activities in the Greater Vancouver watershed.

Series consists of administrative record files, audio, and moving image material related to the feature length documentary "Everest - Climb for Hope" produced by Yaletown Productions.

Series consists of records of the South Shaughnessy Single Family Zoning Review Program, and document design and landscaping of houses in Shaugnessy.
