The fonds consists of minutes, memberships, financial records, publications, newsletters, maps, posters, and reports, including the Christmas Bird Census returns. Also included are records relating to the summer camps in 1971 (Chilcotin) and 1972 (Kootenays). Arranged into 14 series: Annual reports, Camps, Conservation Committee records, Constitutions, Financial records, Lectures and reports, Membership records, Minutes, Newsletters, Photographs and sketches, Program Committee records, Publications, Subject files, and Survey records.

Series consists of correspondence and associated materials of the Society and Section groups, including biographical information on executive members, code of conduct, awards, programming, Christmas Bird Count Surveys and other topics.

1907 Garibaldi Pioneers

File consists of photographs of Garibaldi Park including three prints on a mat titled 'Garibaldi Pioneers, Aug. 1907' and other prints, likely taken later between 1926 and 1931 by S. Curtis or Elizabeth Johns showing Black Tusk, Mimulus Lake, hikers and a scene of whiskey jack bird (grey jay) landing on a man's hand.

Minutes

Series consists of minutes of meetings of the Vancouver Natural History Society and the last meeting of the Natural History Section of the B.C. Mountaineering Club and the Arbour Day Association.

Album of camping trips around BC, 1918-1937

File is a photograph album that belonged to Society members Mr. and Mrs. Johns (Samuel Curtis Johns and Elizabeth Johns) showing camp trips and excursions around British Columbia and the Lower Mainland of Vancouver, including Botanie Mountain, Savary Island, Cameron Lake, Garibaldi, Grouse, Hollyburn Ridge, Burnaby Lake, Brockton Point, Lulu Island and other sites. Photographs also show various plant species and bird eggs and nests.

Photographs and sketches

Series consists of photographs primarily showing camp outings, 1926-1983, from around British Columbia as well as Alberta and the United States. Many trips were taken to the same sites or parks year after year, such as Garibaldi Provincial Park. Photographs of camping trips include views of group portraits, campsites, trekking, landscapes, and plant and animal life observed on trips. Other photographs in series also shows Society members and events.

Constitutions

Series consists of yearly session booklets, 1921-1953, which include the program of the Society, names of officers, members and the constitution and constitutions for a number of years from 1972-1992, 1997, and 2001.

Camps

Series consist of correspondence, newsletters (Forbidden News), song book and reports as well as a manuscript copy of the “Camping with the Vancouver Natural Historical Society” by Bert Brink describing the history of camps.
