Item is an amateur film from Douglas Scott's time living in Hong Kong which captures a biplane flying; expatriates in suits and local soldiers in uniform sitting together; and the expatriates playfully tossing a ball around.

Stone Symposium - Symposium Crane

Item is an amateur film documenting the 1975 Vancouver International Stone Symposium at VanDusen Gardens. The film contains footage of Canadian Reserve soldiers helping move sculptures using a crane, as well as footage of people photographing and filming the process. Artists believed to be featured include Wolfgang Kubach, Maria Kubach-Wilmsen, and Jiro Sugawara. The main sculpture being moved is "Horizontal Column" by Wolfgang Kubach and Maria Kubach-Wilmsen.

Item is a one hour television network documentary featuring Canada's aerobatic air team, the Snowbirds. Narrated by Leslie Nielsen. The documentary begins by following the eight men trying out for the four spaces in the 1990 Snowbirds team, then discussing the history of aviation in Canada and the Canadian military, the majority of the film focuses on the training of the Snowbirds team and the outreach and shows they perform. Ending with the final show of the 20th anniversary season. Digital edited master (no supers). Version has blackout breaks for commercials. Film is a promotional and informational short produced by New Horizon Films (with support from the NFB) for for the Department of National Defense. The film follows a set of new recruits through officer training at the facility in Chilliwack, B.C.

Poppsie England Wood Family

Item is a film made up of several films that have been spliced together. The film documents the Wood family’s trip to England and contains footage of the steamship journey, the Queen’s Guard parading, a war memorial, St. James’ Park, Buckingham Palace, the Thames, horse races, family scenes, a church, and a wedding. Film also documents locations and events in Vancouver, including the exterior and interior of Wood’s Jewellery Store (Arthur Wood & Co., 2511 Main Street), family gatherings at a house, possibly the Wood family home at 1656 Robson Street, and a troop of cavalry riding in dress uniforms. The stock date years of the film are in the following order: 1926, 1931, 1929, 1931 and 1932.

Includes footage of the Sky Hawks demonstration team, shot from the ground, of the Sky hawks performing sky diving and parachuting tricks, and landing, as well as airplanes flying, and the smoke and flag marking the drop zone. Includes footage shot by a fellow sky diver of men in green camouflage military uniforms parachuting. There are also shots taken using a fish-eye lense of men doing practice parachute jumps from a tower using wires. The fish-eye lense is also used in some sky diving and parachuting shots - the camera is attached to the mid-section of a Sky hawk member rather than to a helmet. Item is raw camera footage shot for "Return of the Cold Warriors" a half hour television documentary about the history and closing of the last Canadian Military base in Germany. Footage shows jets landing, flying, taxiing and taking off. Footage includes shots of other buildings and air hangars. Also buildings and traffic at night, Footage was transferred from film to video before transfer to the archives; sprocket holes can be seen at times. At times there is a ring of shadow around the outer rim of the frame.

Soldiers on ship leaving port

Item is an amateur film which captures a ship full of Canadian soldiers departing. The soldiers wave toward those seeing them off from the docks; some soldiers dangle their feet from the side of the ship, while others climb for a better view. A band can also be seen playing before the ship departs from its berth.
