Item is a photograph showing Captain E.D.H. Riddlesdell holding binoculars. Text affixed to back: "Captain E.G.H. Riddelsdell, master of P & O's largest passenger liner, the 45,000 ton Canberra made his last official call at the port of Vancouver Saturday. The captain will retire when Canberra reaches Southampton on May 14. He first went to sea in 1926 and joined the Orient Line in 1938 commanding his first ship the Orontes in the same year. Subsequent commands have been on Orcades, Orsova, Oriana and Canberra and on numerous Royal Navy ships during the period 1939 to 1947."
