Correspondence to the National Executive

This series consists of correspondence sent to the National Executive from a variety of sources. The records were contained in a single binder and arranged chronologically by date of receipt.

National memos

This series consists primarily of memos from the office of the National Coordinator to various Tools for Peace committees. The records were originally contained in two binders and arranged chronologically by date of receipt. For conservation purposes, the records have been removed to acid-free folders, each file representing the original binder.

Nicaragua Office

Tools for Peace established an office in Managua, Nicaragua in 1985 in order to facilitate the acquisition and distribution of aid. The records in this series represent the communication between the Managua office and the office of the National Coordinator, and document the activities of the Managua office. The series consists of correspondence, minutes of and agendas for, meetings. The records were originally contained in four binders and arranged chronologically by date of receipt. For conservation purposes, the records have been removed to acid-free file folders, each file folder representing the original binder. Researchers should note that files 2 and 3 in the series Operational files of the Office of the National Coordinator, location 606-E-1, consist of correspondence with the Managua office.

Public Affairs and Education Committee - correspondence and newsletters

The Public Affairs and Education Committee was established to provide Tools for Peace committees with resource material for public outreach. The correspondence and newsletters which constitute this series were contained in four binders. For conservation purposes, the records have been removed from the binders to acid-free file folders.

Operational files - Provincial Coordinator

This series consists of correspondence, memos, minutes of meetings, copies of journal articles, newspaper clippings and photographs relating to the B.C. provincial organization of Tools for Peace.

Regional Committee minutes

This series consists of minutes of regional committee meetings sent to the office of the National Coordinator. The records were contained in a binder organized by region, and arranged chronologically by date of receipt. The records have been removed from the binder to acid-free file folders.

Special designations

Various groups and associations wishing to send their own aid to Nicaragua would apply to Tools for Peace for space on the Nicaragua-bound vessels chartered by Tools for Peace. These organizations were called "Special Designations". The records in this series indicate sources of material aid to Nicaragua, and the specific nature of the aid. These records were originally contained in four binders, one binder per year.
