Types of arts programs considered include visual art, poetry, dance, music, film, and theatre. Included among the proposals are unsolicited poetry, song lyrics and recorded songs pertaining to Vancouver.
Subseries consists of files containing correspondence and surveys with potential sponsors to raise funds to support Vancouver Centennial programs. The Team of 100 was a marketing strategy to form a committee for corporate participation in the centennial with the intent to raise funds in the corporate community. Files on individual corporate sponsors outline the nature of the sponsorship and in some cases agreements.

Subseries consists of correspondence, biographies, photographs, an artifact, and other textual and graphic material relating to the planning and execution of various recognition programs held during the Centennial year, including the Distinguished Pioneer Awards, Born in Vancouver program, Seniors Salute, Centenarians Recognition program, 21 Club (those individuals honoured at age 21 in 1936), and babies born on April 6, 1986. Records pertaining to the Distinguished Pioneers include biographies of the one hundred individuals recognized, as well as individuals considered but not honored.

Research and program development files
Subseries consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence, memorandums and some reports relating to research and development of programs for the Centennial year. The files are arranged into two filing blocks: Correspondence and Chronological files.
Subseries consists of four scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings pertaining to the activities of the Vancouver Centennial Commission and the various events and projects that took place as part of the Centennial celebrations. Includes special Centennial editions published by local newspapers. Scrapbooks cover the period of 1981 to March 1987.
Subseries consists of correspondence and promotional and other material relating to Sister City programs with Edinburgh, Odessa, Los Angeles, Guangzhou, and Yokohama. Includes records pertaining to various events put on by Yokohama in Vancouver for the Centennial, including children's programs, kabuki performances, displays and events at Oakridge Mall, Yokohama Day at Expo '86, and Yokohama Festival.
Series consists of videocassettes with footage of or relating to Vancouver Centennial celebrations. Includes footage of Vancouver in 1986, and footage relating to the city's history, the Commission's plans for the Centennial, "The Vancouver Song," (also known as "Vancouver (you'll always look like home to me)," the "Make Vancouver Sparkle" contest and the April 6th birthday party.

Subseries consists of minutes of meetings of the Vancouver Centennial Executive Committee, December 15, 1982 to January 14, 1987. Some minutes include recommendations for project endorsements.
Subseries consists of records pertaining to research carried out by the Vancouver Centennial Commission with regard to similar celebrations held in Canada, the United States, and internationally. Records include correspondence and reports pertaining to research conducted into the preparation for celebrations in Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles, Texas, Boston, Philidelphia, Johannesburg and Australia.

Includes policies, job classifications and specifications for various staff positions, as well as records pertaining to consultants and volunteers. Subseries consists of correspondence, administrative records, proposals, budgets, reports, publications, press releases, photographs, sound recordings, sheet music and other records pertaining to the communications and media relations activities of the Vancouver Centennial Commission. The subseries also includes records relating to the development of the logo, Centennial mascot Tillicum, and other graphics; records relating to promotions for the Centennial song competition and the recording of "The Vancouver Song," a graphics competition, the "Make Vancouver Sparkle" contest, the 100 day countdown to the Centennial, the 1983 to 1985 Grey Cup Parades, Canada Day 1985, and April 6th 1984 and 1985; as well as news releases from the Commission, 1981 to 1986, and issues of the "Centennial Update" and the "Centennial Bulletin."
