Empress of Scotland Branksome trip

Item is an amateur film documenting Isabell Louise Spencer and her grandmother, Isabell Winch boarding a train, and departing aboard a ship from King Edward Pier in Montreal. Film documents women and Col. Victor Spencer aboard the ship. Stanley Park highlights

Item is a documentary film documenting Stanley Park including recreational activities and special events in the park. The film contains footage of traffic entering Stanley Park, Lions Gate Bridge viewed from the park, totem poles, as well as scenes of trees and flower gardens that show the park in bloom. The film documents people engaging in a variety of the park?s recreational activities as well such as horse back riding, walking, playing cricket, purchasing ice-cream from the ice-cream stand, golfing, swimming and playing in the water at the beach. The film also contains footage of track and field sports taking place at Brockton Oval including shot-put, discus, running races, high jumping, and pole-jumping. In addition, the film documents a visit to the park by Princess Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, as well as people building the sea wall. Children are also featured in the park playing on the playground equipment, riding the Stanley Park Miniature Railway, and interacting with the animals at the petting zoo. Various animals in Stanley Park and the zoo are also documented including swans, ducks, raccoons, monkeys, sea lions, penguins, sea otters and a peacock.

"Morning show" - Kerrisdale Community Centre part #1

Item is a documentary film documenting The Morning Show's coverage of the Kerrisdale Community Centre with interviewer Ross Mortimer and host Doug Campbell. The program was aired on CBUT (Channel 2) in 1963 and contains footage of the recreational activities that take place at the Kerrisdale Community Centre as well as interviews with the centre's instructors, users, and administrators. The film documents Ross Mortimer's interviews with Mrs. Joan R. Grey, who is an employee of the Parks Board and is responsible for the centre's programmes, and Mr. Hal Milton, who is the President of the Kerridale Community Centre. In this interview, Milton and Grey discuss how the centre is jointly operated with the Parks Board as well as other topics including fundraising, volunteers, and the role of women in the centre. In addition, the film documents a variety of the centre's recreational activities as Ross Mortimer interviews the instructors and participants of various programmes including a children's exercise class, a senior citizens carpet bowling group, an adults clay sculpting and pottery class, a women's art class, a women's French class, and a children's Judo class. There is also footage of an interview with Francis Bodey, who is the secretary of the Kerrisdale Community Centre.

This film is the continuation of film MI-114 'Morning Show' - Kerrisdale Community Centre Part #1. Yaletown Productions "Weird Wheels" ; TV [television] series

Item is promotional material for the television series "Weird Wheels" (2000). This was produced by Yaletown Entertainment as a promotional material for Life Network. The series was produced and 39 episodes completed and aired across North America. Video starts and ends with Weird Wheels animation. The cars featured include a wrought iron bug, a mobile phone (a mash up between a Chevy truck and phone booth), a hurse covered in buttons, a car for god when he comes to earth, a guitar motorcycle, and a shoe bicycle. The promotional short also visits an art car parade in San Francisco, CA.

Item is promotional material for "Belize - Rain Forest Expedition" (1995). This was a pilot for a television series for Discovery Channel. The series did not proceed. The video introduces Belize with shots of locals, then follows a group of scientists and archeologists into the Belize rainforest where they observe wildlife and discover Mayan ruins. Information about Belize, to supplement the narration, is interspersed at the bottom of the screen.

Item is a one hour television documentary, narrated by Leslie Nielsen, featuring two Canadian grandmothers in an air race from New Jersey, USA, to the southern tip of South America and back. The story follows the pilots through the trials, dangers, and joys of the race over the course of almost three weeks. Of the nine planes that started, only six complete the race. Item is an amateur film documenting Mrs. E. W. Hamber and an unidentified male companion rowing a boat in wetland and Mr. E. W. with several unidentified female companions riding horses and clearing hurdles at the Hamber Minnekhada ranch in Coquitlam. The film also shows footage of a dog catching a game bird, of cattle grazing, as well as images of flocks of wild geese, and chicken and ducks at the farm.

Item is camera original raw footage for "Curse of the Lost Gold Mine." Footage includes an interview with Jack [Mould] who is standing beside the tent-shaped rock that he and his partners removed from the Pitt Lake area. In addition there are shots of Michael Collier listening to Jack and the tent-shaped rock on its own. Don Waite, Kathie Hamilton, Dick Hamilton and Michael walking along the Pitt Lake lakeshore, and Don shares stories about Slumach and the lost mine legend.

The curse of the lost [gold] mine

Item is the D-2 Master cassette version of "Curse of the lost gold mine." A documentary-style show that features dramatized re-enactments of actual historical events. The narrative combines a current expedition into the Pitt Lake area to search for the mine and evidence of other prospectors with an actor [Donnelly Rhodes] playing an old prospector telling tales and legends, the story is filled out with dramatizations and interviews. Final four minutes are silent after tone.

Winter Survival - National Film Board [NFB]

Item is a film made by Michael Collier in collaboration with the National Film Board [NFB] of Canada. The narrative follows a cross-country skier not prepared for an emergency situation and a snowmobiler who is prepared and able to keep himself comfortable until help arrives. The skier is rescued and treated for hypothermia by a group of cross-country skiers who are knowledgeable regarding proper first aid. Item is Yaletown Productions Everest September 12, 1991 Hi-8 mm transfer tape one. Contains footage of Kathmandu street scenes, Everest - Climb for Hope team members, markets, street sellers, pedestrians, traffic, dogs and people sleeping, a brief scene at a restaurant. Everest - Climb for Hope team members walking along a road beside a river, past a small settlement, through mud, past an avalanche of rocks, includes shots of more rocks falling off the cliff onto the pathway, team members and Sherpas/porters following the first group through the danger area of falling rocks, team members pass another village and interact with local children, scenes of a river or stream being forged, packs being loaded onto a van, an immigration office on the road, Sherpas carry a large and heavy box up a steep path, Alan, an ex-American world-class gymnast carries the 250 lb box a few meters. Team members and their gear are assembled in a building, locals gather around at the Zhang Mu Hotel, negotiations are made with a translator to hire Sherpas to carry gear, some Chinese [?] officials can be seen, the line-up of those waiting for work hold on to each other to eliminate the ability for anyone to cut in line [?] or jump the queue, shots of the Sherpas with heavy pack walking away from the Zhang Mu Hotel and more negotiations with the translator near the truck where the supplies are being loaded.

Contains footage of Everest - Climb for Hope team members riding in a vehicle enjoying the views, playing hacky-sack in a lobby, a meeting about the plan to get the Everest - Climb for Hope team members and their supplies to base camp, a lightning storm, team members enjoying some snacks in a dining area, Dennis toasts the chefs, everyone enjoys a meal together, scenic view of mountains, a moonrise, a friendly dog, team members riding in the back of a truck up to base camp, shots of an monastery located on the way to base camp, arrival at base camp, scenes of setting up, a group photograph, Ernie [Erwin Sniedzins] gives his farewell to the team and drives away. Item is "Everest - Climb for Hope" footage transferred from original 16mm camera film footage. Includes footage of yaks carrying packs and supplies for the "Everest Climb for Hope" team. Team members hike beside the yaks. Scenes of base camp, sherpas, a satellite dish, laundry hanging to dry, tents and tents covered in snow. Includes a scene of Peter cooking and enjoying smoking a pipe, prayer flags, men relaxing and doing thing around the camp including looking through a telescope, sorting equipment, packing, bread being prepared in the communal tent at base camp, snow being melted using a small stove hanging in someone's tent, a man attaching crampons to his boots, men hiking out of base camp through the snow with packs, anchoring spikes into the ice and snow and attaching ropes and carabiners, performing a rescue, or perhaps practicing a rescue [?], early morning hiking, mountain views, snow blowing off the mountain, interviews with Everest - Climb for Hope team members (silent), and a truck of supplies driving and getting unstuck on a very rough road near a river.
