Series consists primarily of correspondence, but also includes minutes, by-laws, reports, photographs, and newspaper clippings. The records classification system employed by the office of the Director of Environmental Health has undergone several changes, although the functions have remained constant.

Series consists of two albums. The first album contains 113 photographs of interior and exterior views of condemned buildings, smallpox patients, and views of areas in Vancouver with sewerage drainage problems; and newspaper articles related to sanitation and public health issues. The second album contains 49 photographs of interior and exterior views of condemned buildings, and views of water impounded due to blockages in sewers drainage system. Originally arranged in two albums. For conservation reasons, the albums have been dismantled, and newspaper clippings removed. A photocopy of each album records the original arrangement.

Series consists of correspondence on a variety of subject areas, applications made by clubs for permission to enter watersheds, monthly tables monitoring water pollution, and communicable disease statistics of schools.
