First rough grading of roadway through Stanley Park near bridge-head. Now a fine concrete driveway.
Granite rocks were dumped inside the edge of this caisson before cement was poured. Pump is carrying off water that has seeped through.

The 61 strands in each suspension cable are secured to seven steel butts shown above. These butts are set in tons of solid concrete.
Tower piers are finished (South Shore). A few days after this picture was taken work commenced on erection of big steel construction "creeper".

4:30 a.m. All is in readiness for scow and tugs to haul four catwalk cables across First Narrows. Light dim. Photo taken with f/2 lens wide open at 20 seconds.
5:23 a.m. Three of the eight-ton cables for catwalks have been raised 325 feet above tide mark. Distance between piers is 1550 feet.
A diver swings into position - lifted by derrick and wire rope. Diver's air-line is being paid out by man on top of bank.
