Item contains raw footage shot for the documentary, "Everest - Climb for Hope." Video includes shots of traveling with pack animals, Sherpas playing a dice game, the Everest - Climb for Hope team at a planning meeting, some individual team member interviews, Tim's injured knee, Yaks carrying Tim and supplies out of the camp, the team at camp four, planning the moving of oxygen to the next camp, Everest views, the debris of an avalanche, shots of exhausted team members climbing down, and a farm village and villagers on the way down the mountain.

Item is original camera tape footage taken for the "Everest - Climb for hope" documentary. Raw video footage includes scenes of three team members climbing a serac (ice cliff), team members hiking, and views, Sherpas on the North Col. serac, a description of the path taken when traversing the North Col, and Bill hiking with the camera and then waiting as various team members descend 'the ramp' on their way back to camp. At [advanced base camp] the team reunites and chats. The team then discusses the success and failures of the attempt and the team organization. This footage includes ambient noise (mostly wind) and some commentary from the man operating the camera, Bill, (including coughing and swearing).

Exploring Vancouver’s Chinatown

Item is an educational video produced by the Vancouver School Board for use with a textbook entitled ‘Exploring Vancouver’s Chinatown: A Resource Guide’. The film has no narration, but a background score with Chinese instruments, and scene noise in some places. It opens with footage of the sun rising over Chinatown from a rooftop vantage point. It lingers on vendors and storefronts preparing to open, a Tai Chi class in the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden’s main pavilion, Tai Chi in a local park, scenes of residential streets, houses, schools, and playgrounds. The film includes footage of a variety of local businesses, such as a barbershop, an apothecary, a school, calligraphy, tailor, fire department, auto repair, and a newspaper printer. It concludes with footage of the musicians playing the background music and street scenes of the sun setting over Chinatown.

Item is the original. "Expo 86 PSA No. 1" [Public service announcement] produced by Yaletown Productions for the Government of Canada External Affairs Department. Film has four thirty second commericals advertising Expo 86. The commercials feature footage of Vancouver and British Columbia highlighting the city, nature, tourist activities and the Expo site.

Expo 86 - CP Pavilion - Archival Footage

Item includes copies of black and white footage gathered for the purpose of producing promotional videos for Expo 86. Video includes a copy of footage from 1902 of the train route in the Fraser Valley. "Fraser Canon - American Mutoscope and Biograph 1902," and "Empress of Japan and Construction of the Lion's Gate Bridge" [1937-1938] which includes footage of the bridge at various stages of completion. Some shots show workers while others are of men in suits playing around and admiring the view. Archival footage collected in 1985/86 for use in show created for the CP Pavillion, EXPO 86 by Yaletown Productions. Titled CP Queue Line Videotape. Original film was transferred to one inch video tape from various archives. In 1993 the one inch was transferred to Betacam SP.

Item is a film consisting of several amateur films that have been spliced together. Footage documents the life of the George and Ruby (nee Wood) Thompson family from approximately 1928-1961. The film includes footage of significant family events such as the couple’s courtship, engagement and 1930 wedding, bringing home their baby daughter Valleen, and Christmas celebrations and holiday meals. Film also includes footage of numerous family scenes and subjects such as playing at the beach, picnicking, swimming, the family’s houses and pets, daughters Valleen and Hellene, and George and Ruby tending to and riding horses.

Film also includes footage of Vancouver attractions, including the Thompsons skiing and playing in the snow at Grouse Mountain circa 1928, and visiting the Stanley Park ornamental gardens and zoo in the 1930s.

The order of the stock date years of the films is as follows: 1929, 1926, 1928, 1939, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1945, 1959, 1955, 1946, 1961, 1948 and 1947.

A handwritten note in the film box reads "Family winter at Aberthau- John-Baby".

Film also shows apartment building fire, fire at Hudson Plating Co. Ltd. at W 5th and Alberta St., fire at a Danish bakery at W 4th and Stephens, and a fire at a rail shipping and loading station on the docks, which shows Fireboat No. 2 in action.

Other locations have not been identifed. Additional footage is included that was shot on the ground of a Sky hawks team breifing with Pierre (shot from several angles), and the men getting dressed for a show and checking each others' parachutes and equipment, airplanes taxing, the Sky hawks team practicing thier show on the ground 'dirt dive,' the men chatting near the airplane, and the Sky hawks team entering the airplane. Includes footage shot by a fellow sky diver of men in green camouflage military uniforms parachuting. There are also shots taken using a fish-eye lense of men doing practice parachute jumps from a tower using wires. The fish-eye lense is also used in some sky diving and parachuting shots - the camera is attached to the mid-section of a Sky hawk member rather than to a helmet. Flowers, horses, painting Pattullo Bridge

Item is an amateur film which captures flowers, trees, and foliage, with the British Columbia Parliament buildings at times visible in the background; and women riding horses and playing with a dog. The latter half of the film captures labourers painting the Pattullo Bridge (New Westminster, B.C.) while hoisted on pulleys or simply free climbing. The workers, covered with paint themselves, pose together at the end of the film.
