Family 1929 Sp-Dc [September to December]

File consists of Ted Taylor personal and professional correspondence and notes, photographs, newspaper clippings, lists, cards and programs, as well as a small amount of Carolyn Little Pierce and Ken Taylor correspondence. Includes eight photographs of Ted Taylor and several cards and greetings, including a card from Colleen Moore.

File consists of Ted Taylor personal and professional correspondence and notes, a studio pass, lists, address book pages, programs, booklets, clippings, receipts, cards, fifteen photographs and other material. Photographs include a negative and two prints of Mary Louise Taylor (CVA 1477-1295, CVA 1477-1299, CVA 1477-430) a photograph of Eve West (CVA 1477-1308), four photographic postcards of Ensenda Mexico, and several photographs of various unidentified people and places. File also contains Ted's correspondence with L.D. Taylor and Kate Taylor Cooley, a clipping of a newspaper column by Ken Taylor, a list of the Honorary Committee sponsoring the 25th anniversary number of "Variety," and a card from actress Belle Bennett.

1932 Beaton

File consists of Octavia Beaton correspondence, financial records, cards, a program, two photographs and other material. Correspondence relates to family, financial and employment matters and the effect of the Depression on the Beaton and Taylor families. Includes correspondence with relatives, friends and an employer, many letters to and from her brother-in-law Ralph Beaton, several letters to L.D. Taylor and letters from L.D. regarding his illness and financial situation. Photographic material includes a print of her niece Mary's wedding party and a negative showing a young girl, possibly Mary Louise Taylor, standing on a porch.

File consists of Octavia Beaton correspondence, newspaper clippings, minutes and reports, lists, cards, leaflets, programs, poetry, prose and two photographs. Includes correspondence with George Beaton, Ralph Beaton, the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross and the British War Relief Association of Southern California, and informational material from the Hollywood Chapter of Bundles for Britain. File also contains records relating to Beaton's involvement with the Hollywood Woman's Club, including minutes of its first general meeting on October 2, 1940, minutes and reports of its Public Affairs Section, 1942-1943, programs for club events and Beaton's correspondence on behalf of the Club. Also included in the file are clippings relating to the Second World War's effect on the American public, and a photograph of Mary May Beaton.

File consists of incoming correspondence of Annie Louise Taylor, a report card for Theodore Taylor and programs for dramatic events at Los Angeles High School.

File also contains a letter from L.D. Taylor in Vancouver to Caroline Little Pierce, dated January 29, 1899. Included also are Winifred Mabel Pierce's teaching certificate and a letter of appointment; invitations and responses for Annie Louise Pierce's marriage to L.D. Taylor; a pamphlet and a ribbon related to Osborne J. Pierce's certificates of appointment to Corporal in Company G of the 24th Regiment of Maine Militia, September 10, 1862, and to Sergeant Major of the 24th Regiment of Maine Volunteers, April 13, 1863, as well as an outline of his Civil War Service, an autobiographical prose piece titled "Twenty Five Years Ago! By a Veteran Soldier," and a poem titled "A Soldiers Return," all authored by Pierce.

File also contains Mary Louise Taylor correspondence and correspondence with Ken Taylor and L.D. Taylor, which includes several letters from L.D. and attached newspaper clippings. Ted Taylor outgoing correspondence discusses family activities, his career, including work with the War Labor Board, and the Hollywood strike. File also contains a draft review of a Leonard Louis Levinson production and related correspondence. Other records within this file relate to Ted's association with the Central Labor Council, the Los Angeles Newspaper Guild and the Screen Publicists Guild. File also contains a photograph in a Christmas card of Edith and Arthur Baker. Objects in this file are badges from Ken Taylor's military uniform, a Nazi badge and a yellow Star of David badge bearing the German word 'Jude'.

[L.D. Taylor - copied material, circa 1926 to 1946]

File consists of copies of letters, news articles and photographs relating to L.D. Taylor, possibly provided to Ted Taylor by Vancouver City Archivist J.S. Matthews. Includes a 1932 letter to L.D. from Franklin D. Roosevelt, Matthews' notes regarding his visit with Ted and Ken Taylor in June 1946, an excerpt from Matthews' obituary for L.D., and some historical notes related to Alice Berry Taylor. File also includes photocopies of CVA 1477-107 and CVA 1477-108, a photograph of L.D. Taylor with Amelia Earhart and a few other men on the court house stairs, and a photograph of L.D. standing with some pilots and holding a child wearing an American flag costume.

L.D.'s letters discuss his plans to run in the 1936 Vancouver mayoral election and his opinion of the current mayor, his defeat in the election, and his publication of "The New Deal" newspaper in 1937. Ted's letters discuss his positions with the "Hollywood Reporter" and Columbia Pictures and outline family activities. The file also contains the first three issues of "The New Deal," March 26, April 2 and April 9, 1937; copies of Ted Taylor articles sent to L.D. for inclusion in the paper; records for a joint Bank of Montreal account between Ted and L.D.; and a Greater B.C. Association leaflet.
