Collection consists of two videos and associated papers of C.P.R. Locomotive 374, which pulled the first transcontinental passenger train into Vancouver on May 23, 1887. The Great Barrier video was filmed at Three-Valley Gap in 1937 to commemorate the 50th. anniversary of the arrival of the locomotive in Vancouver. The video 374, Hail the Conquering Hero, created in the late 1980s, documents the restoration of the locomotive and the community's involvement and attitudes towards it.

The textual records present a richly detailed account of the development and evolution of the Children's Hospital over the course of fifty years. It contains books on British Columbia history especially those that focus on the history of the Greater Vancouver area and the people who live and work there.
