Vancouver Jubilee

Item is a promotional film showing the Diamond Jubilee celebration events, a brief history of Vancouver and concludes with footage of Vancouver after 1945. The film shows historical photographs of Vancouver and focuses on various aspects of development in Vancouver including industry, media, communications, transportation, power plants, city planning, city governance, tourism and architecture.

The film was commissioned by the Vancouver Jubilee Publicity Committee and later sponsored by the British Columbia Electric Company Ltd.

Individuals involved in the creation of the film include: John Young (Director of Photography), L.E. Weekes (Cameraman), Maureen Balfe (Editor), Gordon Inglis and Margaret Jestley (Narrators), C. Fredenburgh (Lighting), L.M. Parry (Producer), William D. Dix (Director)

This film is a re-print made by the Vancouver Museum in the late 1970's for a program called "Vancouver's Heritage in Film".

Out of Bounds : A Race to the End of the Earth] [with breaks, master]

Item is a one hour television documentary, narrated by Leslie Nielsen, featuring two Canadian grandmothers in an air race from New Jersey, USA, to the southern tip of South America and back. The story follows the pilots through the trials, dangers, and joys of the race over the course of almost three weeks. Of the nine planes that started, only six complete the race. Written by Barry Gray and Moyra Rodger, director of photograph, Gary Elmer, editors, Tim Reed and Paul Wong, on-line editor, Bruce Smith, music by Hal Beckett, production coordinator Lupe Korbut, unit manager, Sarah MacDonald, graphic designer Erwin Chiong, sound editor, Gary Morgan, Chyron, Liz Horner, produced by Yaletown Productions Inc. in association with CBC British Columbia, with the participation of British Columbia Film and the Cable Production Fund.

Stanley Park - Winter Skate - New Immigrant Arrived Airport

Item is a home movie which pictures Lions Gate Bridge from the Stanley Park side, the view from Coal Harbour, and outdoor skating and tennis in Lost Lagoon and/or Beaver Lake in the wintertime. The second half features immigrants disembarking at Vancouver airport, exiting United Air Lines' customs and immigrations and taking photographs. Lew Parry's Steet Metal Worker's Local 280 float sculpture is briefly filmed.

Snowbirds: Come fly with us [English]

Film was a theatrical short produced for the 20th Anniversary of the Canadian Forces Air Demonstration Squadron, The Snowbirds. Yaletown Productions obtained distribution for the film across Canada; it played in theatres as a short before the Demi Moore feature film "Mortal Thoughts" (1991).
