Rededication, Stanley Park, 1943

Album contains photographs of the rededication ceremony in 1943, copy photographs of the original dedication of the park in 1889 and early scenes of Stanley Park. Album was dedicated to Lord Derby, son of Lord Stanley, and includes Lord Derby's invitation to the ceremony as well as Major Matthews' notes with the photographs.

Primary map shows lot numbers and boundaries, streets, fire limits and "soundings in feet" (in English Bay, Burrard Inlet, Coal Harbour and False Creek) in downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park and parts of Kitsilano and Fairview. The ancillary maps show an "Index plan of Vancouver, B.C.", an "Index plan of [Vancouver] city limits" and "Canadian Pacific Mail Steamship Lines" (a map of Canadian Pacifc steamship routes around the world). On recto, the item also includes a description of Stanley Park and an illustration of Vancouver's inner harbour. On verso, the item includes descriptions of major Vancouver residences, imports, exports, businesses and other landmarks.

Item is an amateur film showing the 1936 Jubilee Pacific National Exhibition parade. Film contains footage of the Burrard Bridge, Stanley Park, an RCMP musical ride at near Jericho Beach, Vancouver Fire Department stunt with the firetruck ladder.

Film is a travelogue showcasing scenery, attractions and industry in the Vancouver area. Film contains general and aerial views of Vancouver, plus sequences of the harbour, Vancouver International Airport, Stanley Park, UBC, the Vancouver International Festival and the PNE. Industry is depicted through shots of a sawmill, a fish cannery, a foundry and a shipyard (where the vessel Yukon is launched). Water sports, golf and skiing at Grouse Mountain are shown, as well as Queen Elizabeth Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Granville Street at night and a White Spot drive-in. Individuals involved with the production of the film include: Jim Richardson (script), David Bennett (director), A.J.H. The first half of this film documents a Gray Line Tours bus trip through Vancouver and second half contains scenes showing landmarks of Vancouver and surrounding areas. Film contains footage showing: Empress of Japan Figurehead in Stanley Park, U.B.C., Chinatown, Hotel Georgia, Lion's Gate Bridge, Court House, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Capilano Golf and Country Club, Prospect Point, Stanley Park, views of downtown and North Shore Mountains from Little Mountain, City Hall, sailboats in Burrard Inlet, and Swimmers at Kits Beach.

Item is a film containing both black and white and colour footage. Colour portion of film shows rural area, a body of water with tugboat and barge, horse back riding at the Silver Lodge Riding Academy and candid shots of people on horses. Black and white portion shows a residential area (possibly Vancouver), kids and young men playing catch in the backyard, woman feeding treats to cats and a dog doing tricks, Hastings street showing various hotels and retail buildings, the BC Electric building, the Carnegie Library, playground with people on teeter-totters and swings (probably in Stanley Park), grizzly bears at the zoo (probably Stanley Park, the entrance to the Stanley Park Causeway and Vancouver City Hall.

Item is a home movie which documents Stanley Park and the outer harbour of Vancouver. It pictures pedestrians in Stanley Park and on the sea wall, and various animal exhibits in the Stanley Park Zoo in early spring, and includes pan views of the lighthouse and North Vancouver from the Stanley Park sea wall, the collapsed 2nd Narrows Bridge in the harbour (collapsed June 1958) and Navy ships.
The film documents the April 23, 1952 United Grain Growers fire from different angles and a different fire on the North Shore near Lion's Gate Bridge. The film also shows scenes of Queen Elizabeth Park in Spring with views of over Vancouver. The film ends with an airforce aerial show from a view on the ground in a field and one of "Vancouver's last streetcars" giving free rides on the Hastings East Line on April 24, 1955.
