Series consists of three subseries, all of which are now discontinued (see related records note below):
Civic grants administration files, 62 cm, 1969-1985;
Civic grants case files, 26 cm, 1970-1977; and
Social service grants data cards, 9 cm, 1971-1986.
The series relates to the Social Planning Department's function as the City's administrator in the allocation of social, cultural, recreational, and other grants to local organizations. The administration files are primarily compilations of data on the various applications by grant type, the case files are by organization (some of the more significant grant applications have been retained), and the social services grants data cards give grant figures for consecutive years by organization. The first two subseries are arranged by file title.

Series consists of minutes of the meetings of the Board, individual notices of appeal, and the occasional annual report of the Board, all relating to Zoning By-law exception rulings (overruling decisions of city officials and bodies). The minutes record the Board's decisions on each appeal.
