File consists of correspondence and newspaper clippings relating to Matthews' manuscript "Narvaez, Discoverer of Rio Blancho, 1791". Includes the July 1951 issue of the British Columbia News Letter, in which Matthews' ideas about Narvaez are printed. This manuscript was printed as the pamphlet "Pilot Commander Don Jose Maria Narvaez, 1791" for the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first European in 1941.

A letter from Matthews states that he arranged a fake robbery from the vault in 1959 in order to make a point to the rental firm about the protection of his material.
