Philp, affectionately known as 'Obie', who was responsible for starting the Snowbirds demonstration team, He talks about traveling with the [Golden] Centennaires in 1967 and how the Snowbirds got started.

Philp then presents a poem about the Snowbirds, which is read by Major Dan Dempsey. Bill Johnson joins O.B. Philp at the podium and they present a copy of their book about the Snowbirds to Major Dan Dempsey, then Dempsey presents O.B. Philps with a stained glass piece. Footage continues with an interview with outgoing Snowbirds Team Lead Major Dan Dempsey.

Soldiers on ship leaving port

Item is an amateur film which captures a ship full of Canadian soldiers departing. The soldiers wave toward those seeing them off from the docks; some soldiers dangle their feet from the side of the ship, while others climb for a better view. A band can also be seen playing before the ship departs from its berth.

The documentary begins by following the eight men trying out for the four spaces in the 1990 Snowbirds team, then discussing the history of aviation in Canada and the Canadian military, the majority of the film focuses on the training of the Snowbirds team and the outreach and shows they perform. Ending with the final show of the 20th anniversary season. Digital edited master (no supers). Version has blackout breaks for commercials. Those magnificent snowbirds - The first 20 years

Item is a copy of "Canada's magnificent snowbirds - 20th Anniversary" one hour television network documentary featuring Canada's aerobatic team, the Snowbirds. The documentary begins with an overall set up of a child wanting to grow up to be a Snowbird pilot. The story of the Snowbirds begins with try outs for four new Snowbirds pilots and moves on to the history of aerobatic flight teams in Canada. Using a mix of narration, interviews and historical footage the history of the Snowbirds is laid out and then the narration moves into practice, training and the designing of the new airshow routine for the 1991, 20th Anniversary, season. Leaving the training base in Moose Jaw, S.K. the Snowbirds team travels to Comox, B.C. for an airshow. The documentary continues with an overview of the role of the Snowbirds and their goals on their public relations and air show role. Themes touch on why the Snowbirds have lasted as long as they have and why they will continue on into the future. In addition to shots of crowds and performances two airshow promoters from the USA are interviewed. Back in Moose Jaw at the end of the 1991 season there is a reunion of alumni pilots. The documentary ends with a final performance of the 20th season and a child on a beach inspired to someday be a Snowbird pilot. Narrated by Leslie Neilsen. Cassette version edited from D-2. This is the superless cassette version - no blacks or bumpers.

Victoria - Government House, royal visit footage, and soldiers departing

Item is a film which contains some of Douglas Scott's footage of the royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Victoria, British Columbia, in May of 1939. The film captures a car approaching Government House; Margaret by the water; intertitles reading "We leave their majesties steaming Eastward, back to their family at the Heart of the Empire - while Canadians from the Atlantic to Pacific unite in loyalty and affection for our Sailor King and his gracious consort," and "The Straits of Juan de Fuca : In the foreground Canada - in the background the towering Olympic Range in the United States - two great nations living together in peace and Amity;" a large pole being painted by a man elevated by a pulley; the fountains and structures of the British Columbia Parliament Buildings illuminated for the royal visit; the parade, a marching band, and Mounties; a golf game; flowers; and youths riding horses. The end of the film captures soldiers marching.

Victoria - Remembrance Day

Item is an amateur film which captures Remembrance Day proceedings in Victoria, British Columbia. A ceremony is being held on the grounds of the British Columbia Parliament Buildings and the Inner Harbour area, where soldiers and veterans in ceremony stand around the War Memorial. The soldiers march and line up, various men in formal dress take turns placing a wreath at the base of the statue (including Premier Duff Pattullo), and a military band plays. The film closes with a blurry shot of Margaret.
