Bowser family photograph album

Item is a leather bound and painted photo album containing 51 portraits in carte de visite and cabinet card format, with occasional light hand colouring. The people depicted in the album are unidentified with the exception of one photograph of W.J. Bowser, LL.B. Most of the portraits are of adults, with only a few of babies. The photographs are from several different countries as photographer's markings from Saint John (N.B.), Moncton (N.B.), Vancouver (B.C.), Boston (Mass.), and Liverpool (England) are visible on some of the cards.

The family name Bowser can be seen on the back of one of the photographs, but none of the people depicted in the album are identified by name. The photographs are from photographers in Victoria and Vancouver. Album pages have colourful designs and imagery printed around the card spaces.

Captain E.D.H. Riddlesdell

Item is a photograph showing Captain E.D.H. Riddlesdell holding binoculars. Text affixed to back: "Captain E.G.H. Riddelsdell, master of P & O's largest passenger liner, the 45,000 ton Canberra made his last official call at the port of Vancouver Saturday. The captain will retire when Canberra reaches Southampton on May 14. He first went to sea in 1926 and joined the Orient Line in 1938 commanding his first ship the Orontes in the same year. Subsequent commands have been on Orcades, Orsova, Oriana and Canberra and on numerous Royal Navy ships during the period 1939 to 1947."
